Biden says transgender discrimination 'civil rights issue...

Can't blame you. The way you cis folk threaten trans people, the risk your 5 year old poses is terrifying. You, on the other hand, well, you've got some things to learn about being a responsible parent.  (Nov 1, 2012 | post #19)

Biden says transgender discrimination 'civil rights issue...

Eh. Its real life and all you know. Took my show on the road and put my money where my mouth is. This was notable enough to get me to pop in -- been working mostly on local elections here, given that R-money's been lying his way through the entire campaign... Then I remembered some of the peeps here, like the guy in coolidge.  (Nov 1, 2012 | post #18)

Damn! They must be deleting old threads 'cause my count's down to a third of what it was when I "went away"...  (Oct 30, 2012 | post #3)

DADT Repeal Does Nothing For Trans Soldiers

*Pokes head in* Hmmm. I spy with my little I something that sounds like cis privilege. Perhaps I should stop by when I have some free time. There's a lot of really foolish errors going on. Listen to Emelye, folks. 'Cause she's a bit nicer than I am.  (Dec 26, 2010 | post #92)

Miss. School Prom off After Lesbian's Date Request

This is incorrect, as well. Everyone has rights in the US. Even people from other countries. And there is no obligation to show ID to authorities in the US. If you have it on you and it is requested, you have to show it, but you are not required to have it on you. You just keep blowing it, Chief. Over, and over, and over again. I get it. You are a racist jerk. You really don't have to keep trying to prove it to me any longer.  (Aug 17, 2010 | post #6795)

Show yourself -- go to the filings and the stay find where the judges said the state cannot protect it's Arizonans.  (Aug 17, 2010 | post #6794)

Prop. 8 overturned

You can think that all you want. I won't stop you from doing so. It's a falsehood to think that, but hey -- people will believe what they want, right?  (Aug 16, 2010 | post #400)

Nothing. This issue isn't rounding them up and deporting them. The issue, in part, is figuring out who is without violating their rights under the Constitutions of the State of Arizona and the United States. THe issue is, in part, funding a prison system already stripped of all accreditation and currently in violation of multiple court orders that is run by someone who has been sued so many times for killing people who haven't even had a trial yet to see if they were guilty of the crimes they are in jail awaiting trial on that he has no budget to pay for the jails he has currently -- excluding the fact he still needs to pay his department on top of that. ANd their are several other issues as well, but those are my biggest ones, right after the whole racists thingThey sure aren't doing that in Arizona. Hell, they can't even *get* welfare in Arizona. Haven't been able to for years now, in fact. As for medical care, well, they can get it -- if they don't mind waiting 14 to 34 hours in the ER at one of the county clinics. But they still get billed for it, just like anyone else who doesn't have insurance. Oddly enough, they tend to pay those bills. Failure to pay among undocumented immigrants (who the hosptials are required to keep records regarding) is lower than for *any* group of citizens. SO, while you might believe they are doing it elsewhere, and I will doubt that, I can say that neither of yourstatements are true here in ArizonaANd yet, they do not go down to stand at the entrance to the Home Depots here in the mornings, they do not apply for work in the vast agricultural business here (Lettuce, Roses, Cotton, basic vegetables, and so forth -- prices on all of them are going up and farmers are freaking out because the food is literally spoiling before it can get to market since there's not enough people to work the fields) and haven't since the early 1980's, and they certainly aren't taking the jobs as janitors and housekeepers, entry level health care givers, and fast food workers that make up over half of Arizona's service economy (which in turn is over a third of the state's industry). And there are a lot of those jobs available. Tons of them. None of them pay more than minimum wage, of course, but that would mean that they lose those unemployment benefits (higher than minimum wage) and welfare. Yeah, like they are *really* taking jobs from anyone. *right*. Don't ya hate it when reality proves you wrong?  (Aug 16, 2010 | post #6783)

Living here I'm a tad more familiar. THe federal government said they cannot take from the federal government it's role, per the constitution, of enforcing the borders. Probably doesn't help that all the people behind the bill are known racists, either. Or that even the damned governor lied about it. Or that it's unfunded, and actually causes harm to citizens of the State. But I know -- little things like actual details probably make uou uncomfortable.  (Aug 16, 2010 | post #6768)

JUST IN: Judge rules Prop. 8 ban on same-sex marriage is ...

Correct. And one would hope that none of the usual bright boys at Topix say the sorts of things they say to LGBT people here. In order to be heard on the case itself, one has to file an Amicus Brief with the court, the deadline for which has already expired. Emails will be ignored -- no matter what side they come from.  (Aug 16, 2010 | post #852)

Proposition 8 appeal ready for the next step

This is incorrect. Appeals can only be filed by those who have direct involvement in the case itself -- they don't. They can, however, file a separate (new) case, that challenges the ruling. It will, thusly, be a completely separate trial, with different findings of fact and so forth, but it will be going uphill, as the current ruling will still stand on precedent.  (Aug 16, 2010 | post #3)
