Who do you support for Attorney General in New York in 2010?

He represents reasonableness and thought as opposed to Donavan's "fix it at any cost" declarations. Schneiderman wants to work within the law and tested acceptable practice. Donavan wants to change the rules to meet the desires of his backers - whioch included those who do not support gays, abortions, and things not "permitted in the bible," a document which was fine for its time, and fine for those who believe in it, but not suited for the 21st century.  (Oct 13, 2010 | post #3)

Times-Herald Record Charges for Articles

As Newburgh editor for Topix since 2006, I am sorry to report that the Middletown Times-Herald Record is now only permitting subscribers to access their articles. This newspaper provides almost half of the Newburgh articles appearing on our local Topix. I have asked the Topix management for assistance, but they have not replied. In fact, they have removed the Editor Forum and Help areas which leads me to believe that they are no longer supporting their editors and readers. Until this situation is rectified I will no longer be editing Topix. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Dux  (Sep 30, 2010 | post #1)

Newburgh police identify man shot and killed Tuesday

Many of Topix articles are placed by an automated format - if "Newburgh, NY" is in the article it gets placed. It is up to the editors (in this case me), to determine whether the article remains. I place an average of 5 articles a day related to Newburgh and surrounding areas and remove around two or three that were duplicates, related to our area only vaguely, or were boring. Many of the people who read the Newburgh Topix site are those who have moved from this area but are still interested in home-town news, and those who still live here but who are traveling. It s not our job to be selective. As news editors we report, never select. If we did that we'd be slanting the news as some television stations have recently been accused of doing.  (Nov 5, 2009 | post #2)

Dux on Vacation - "RoboBlogger" to post

After two years without missing a day, culling Newburgh area news three to five times a day, the editor of the Newburgh Topix, Dux, will be unavailable for the next ten days. Arrangements have been made to have the Topic RoboBlogger do the news posting during this time.  (May 26, 2008 | post #1)

Topix Editor

Invisible Editor

Gee, and I thought I was alone in this situation. Thanks for the support and feedback. One problem is that I'll be going away for ten days later this year, with no Internet access (no, no, nooooooo) and I was hoping that this person would at least fill in at that time. No contact information, though. I guess I'll ask my son to fill in.  (Feb 22, 2008 | post #13)

Invisible Editor

I have been a Topix local editor since the first week this program started, Seven months ago another person signed up to edit in my community, but has never returned, never poset anything.. perhaps she was picked up by a UFO??? I have asked Topiz to remove her, but her name stays on and she still, possibly, does not exist. What should I do?  (Feb 19, 2008 | post #1)

It it too early for the 2008 campaign

Use this forum to discuss the campaign issue. Please do not endorse a candidate. When should campaigning begin? Between the announced and unannounced Democratic, Republican, and Independent candidates, there are currently almost 30 people seeking to be the next president. No matter who you are in favor of at this time, past experiences show that most people really do not make up their mind until a few months prior to the election. Enough voters are undecided until the last moment to make any race "too close to call." But the need for campaign cash (this will be the most expensive race ever, with presidential election spending possibly double what it was in 2004) causes candidates to announce and start campaigning earlier than ever. A few congressmen and senators are considering a bill that would prohibit formal campaigning and any fund raising more than six months prior to the first primary (not straw polls which start this summer). How do you feel about this?  (Apr 7, 2007 | post #1)
