Schools defend summer watering

I don't have a gripe with schools watering their grass because it's tough to re-establish it, but I do have a gripe with planting grass as your parking lot and then watering it with a airborne sprinkler system mid-day on some of the hottest afternoons like I see happening at Mesilla Valley Maze. That is horribly wasteful. They should go back to using crushed pecan shells for their parking lot. It was attractive and functional and certainly not wasteful.  (Jun 26, 2011 | post #1)

What do trucking, coffee and underwear have in common? Ec...

There comes a time that the elastic is so worn out and there are just too many holes, the undies have to be replaced. Inventory may be moving because there is simply too much of it and it moves when it's cheap to move to places where it's deemed good places to store it. Starbucks, like ice cream, an occasional treat while you're out replacing your undies. Maybe there is a slight budge, but I don't think it's going to last. After all, it will be another 5 years before these new undies need to be replaced.  (Jun 20, 2011 | post #1)

Growing food instead of hate

Have the teens research and build something really important, maybe rainwater harvesting. It could lead to a lucrative future for them if they were to become some of the rare experts.  (Jun 17, 2011 | post #2)
