Tennessee early voting begins today for Nov. 2 election

Please, get out and vote, either during early voting or on Nov 2. Government should be by the people and for the people, so let them know how you feel about the job they are doing in Washington.  (Oct 18, 2010 | post #1)

GH, I agree with you, except maybe the fence---not sure how useful that is realistically without monitoring. Another fundamental thing we could do is improve the immigration process for new people coming to the them not to be illegal by increasing the number of temporary visas and decreasing the time for processing. Also, improving cooperation between local and federal government agencies will help improve detection of border crossers.  (Oct 9, 2010 | post #19)

"Just a Nurse"....I agree that the legislation addresses many important aspects of healthcare, but my concern is exactly as you said..."does not get whittled away by greedy politicians who can't stop taking money from the insurance industry" The insurance companies were the major force behind bringing this legislation forward. They are looking at a huge surge in covered individuals, with many new premiums to charge. I fully support healthcare reform, but in a stepwise fashion that allows all parties to participate in the discussion...not a huge bill that is forced through by one party that has little understanding of the complex nature of healthcare. Like you, I see the daily effects of insurance companies and feel the pressure of HMO's to change medical decisions. Unfortunately, this bill does little to help that. In fact, it adds more layers of non-healthcare provider bureaucracy to the decision-making process.  (Sep 29, 2010 | post #4)

"I think people can't tell what's going on because the political environment is so polluted by partisanship, " she said. "The parties are trying to change the subject from things they think can inflame voters on and win elections on. How does that help the country? That hurts the country. And that's what independents are deeply concerned about."--Jaqu eline Salit. Do you think political parties are still the best way to run our government?  (Sep 19, 2010 | post #1)

What do you think about Free Masons?

Free Masons are a great organization. They do much for the community and help foster leadership. I think George Washington was a mason, is that correct?  (Sep 19, 2010 | post #6)

I'm sorry you feel that way...and I can see why you would say that. However, I'm running on my own name and desire to see a change in our government. My home of record is Pall Mall, but I was stationed in TX. We are coming back to TN when I am finished here. I am a physician, a radiologist, and enjoy what I do and the active duty and veteran's I help take care of. However, I really feel we are a dangerous course in our country. One that threatens our existence as a nation and freedom-loving people. I don't have the money that Davis or Dejarlais do, and I cannot accept campaign contributions because of my role with the government right now. So, I'm running using what little money I have saved. I'd love to hear your ideas about how you would change things in Washington, and given the chance I'd like to represent you there. If not now, then maybe at some point in the future. COL York is my dad, and he does live near DC. If you have any other questions, you can post here or email me directly at DrYorkForCongress@  (Sep 11, 2010 | post #13)

What do you think the early church and followers of Christ would do? Reading through the first few chapters of Acts you can see how rapidly they spread the good news and what a world changing effect they had. I agree that a church can do whatever it decides to do in the confines of the law (and zoning restrictions), but wonder what impact the sign and large building will have on the community. How will it further the message of Christ?  (Aug 26, 2010 | post #36)

Homeschooling: The Fastest-Growing Form of Education in t...

I think this is a sad commentary on our public education system. The kids who are going to be home-schooled are the kids that you want at public school...their parents are involved and want to help.  (Aug 26, 2010 | post #1)

August 5 Tennessee Primary Election: Will you vote?

Glad you started voting...never too late. Wish more people would realize what a privilege it is. I was in Iraq when they had their first election...they had way more than our average 30-40% turnout. Just think if the other 60-70% of us would vote what a change it could make in the way government does business. You would see a drastic decrease in corporate influence and increase in decisions made by listening to the voters. DrYorkForCongress. com  (Aug 7, 2010 | post #480)

A great way to honor those who have given all for the freedom we enjoy. Please remember all those who continue to fight for our freedom. Pray that we can bring our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan home safely, and as soon as possible.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #1)
