Walt Rave: An Appreciation

Walter was a special man, a special neighbor, tall, extremely proud animal advocate. Walter, was a man, one not be toyed with when it came to the mistreatment of animals. Walter knew people would agree to disagree, but in the end, Walter had more to agree then disagrees. Walter was his own unique person, very gifted in arts and crafts and his love for cats went far and beyond the limits of outer space. Walter's love for animals is rare, the kind of rare you can't find these days, the kind of rare that don't exist in this century anymore and when you find that rare gem, (like Walter) who would lay down his life for his cats and not only his cats, any animal at risk of mistreatment, you grab it, hold on to it, because you know that gem would stand wonít back down from anything or anyone. The day we lost Walter was like losing a mother, thatís how bad it hurts. This unique man, (Walter) didnít make sense to a lot of people w/certain statements he made, messages on the back of his truck, and why he went about doing things the way he did, but Iím here to tell you, Walter was not weird, or strange, or crazy, Walter was Walter, one to be understood, instead of being misjudged and misunderstood, one that would protect and keep your animal/s and care for them like they are his own should you fall on hard times. Walter was that gem that is rare to find. A gem thatís made of iron on the outside, yet, gentle and soft on the inside. Walter made a statement where ever he went, whomever he met with his statue. Walter is still alive in the minds and hearts of many and his legacy will carry on for many years to come. I, my family and many others who truly loved Walter, will miss that special beam of light that lit our streets with his love and endless compassion for what he believed in. What Walter set out to accomplish, we should continue. Letís show Walter the same support and more though heís gone, that his works and love for other forms of life will never go unnoticed and we will win the war in the end, for Walter and ourselves and our four legged friends, our pets. Did the unidentified source leave a name? If not, that's strange? Listen, the fire was not accidental. A cold night, Walter in bed and off of a sudden a fire starts from a truck parked not even near his house but on a slope and then spreads to his house. Come one, whom ever did it, you can fool the investigators, but you cannot fool me. Someone set fire to Waltersís house because they were pissed at him about something. I guess I'll be pissed for a long time to come because the people or person responsible for this will get away with it. But the good news is, God saw what you did, and you will reap what you sowed down the road you can trust me on that one.  (Jan 9, 2012 | post #6)

Walt Rave: An Appreciation

I just read something about an unidentified source called the fire station to report a fire the same morning Walter's house was set on fire. Did they get the name of this individual who reported the fire? did he sound rushed or out of breath? Suspicious? I mean come one investigators, really, clearly fire was deliberately set I truly believe and many others. Catch the Rats or Rat that took our Walter from us.If God doesn't get them/him first.  (Jan 9, 2012 | post #5)

Walt Rave: An Appreciation

Yesterday, my brother and I attended the memorial of Walter Rave in Takoma Park where we live. The room was filled with so many friends, associates, people who protested with Walter years ago, men who served in Vietnam with Walter, his good friend Chris, (the neighborhood mail man). So many people signed the list to give a speech about Walter and what they remembered best about him. I must say, everyone, including myself, couldn't hold back tears, without shaking to read our memories of this great, and gentle giant and hero, and protector and humble soul for animals. You could feel the sorrow, the hurt in this room was intense, many tears were shed along with one very angry person, me. Walt left us to be with his cats. Iím sure just like his cats, when other animals in the neighborhood saw Walt, their instincts kicked in, O, here is the man that loves me because animals are gifted in knowing whoís afraid of them, and how loves them dearly. They can feel this from humans. I forgot to mention, during my tribute to Walter as I faced his screen shots to thank him for serving this country and more, that, though I couldnít be there the day he was surrounded by so many loyal friends and associates before passing away, to thank everyone that stood by his bed side and thanked him for everything heís done, and for who he was, what he stood for, and for being the loving, kind hearted soul and protector for all of Godís creation. I want to thank those people for being there for Walter from his first day to his last day with us. Iím sure it must have been heart breaking to face the image you will never forget when you walked into his room. Walter appreciated all the wonderful and heartfelt kindsí words everyone had for him. Iím told he nodded and was able to write though he couldnít see. I will truly miss our compassionate gentle giant. Walterís legacy will live on and we must carry on his work in protecting other forms of life. Walter didnít die; he lives on for ever and ever. Thatís all the more reason to grow much bigger now. Letís keep Walterís legacy alive every one, for Walter and for ourselves.  (Jan 9, 2012 | post #4)

Walt Rave: An Appreciation

And may I also add, Walter had his home built from the ground up. He served this country as well. I'm from a Military family so we will always appreciate our fallen hero, Walter Rave and keep him in our memories for serving this country full of hate. He made a difference when it came to animals because they do, have right to live just like we do. God blessed us with veggies and fruits, and nuts for protein, lifesaving water so yeah, I agree with Walter, why eat the animals. Instead of looking at him like he was a trouble maker, he was actually saving a life by advising you how to eat healthier. If Walter has family anywhere, I'm so sorry for your lost.  (Dec 19, 2011 | post #3)

Walt Rave: An Appreciation

I have known Walter Rave since I was a little girl. He didn't bother anybody. He walked the streets of Takoma Park for years with his fox which was a symbol of animal cruelty, and his cane. Sure he spoke out on cruelty of animals, etc., but he has a right to freedom of speech, just like everyone else. The fire was no accident; I truly believed that someone set fire to this manís house. If you saw his house, which is right up the street from my motherís house, you can see the front of his truck burned, but not the rest of the truck, so thatís a dead giveaway right there, and no burnt grass leading to the house, side of house not burned from the truck that was parked not even near the house but on a slope, to cause such extensive damage. Whoever set this fire set it in the front of his truck to throw the investigators off, to make them think the fire started from the hood of the truck and spread to the house. The front of this manís porch is totally burnt and the fire spread to the inside of his house. This man had six cats that also perished in the fire. If the authorities are smart and do their homework and stop thinking this fire started from a dam truck parked not even near the house, they will find out it was not an accident. No one, NO ONE, had the right to set this manís house on fire at 2-3am in the morning. Any smart investigator will see that. I should be in this line of work. Walter served time in Vietnam. He was a true vet. I will miss seeing him walking the streets of Takoma Park for many years. Many people loved Walter and many didnít like him. You can fool the policeman, the fire fighters, the investigators, but you CANNOT fool me. This was no dam accident, Walter was murdered. The people or person responsible for killing this man will reap what he sow down the road. You can run from man, but you CANNOT, RUN FROM GOD. VENGENCE IS THE LORDíS HE WILL REPAY, AND TRUST ME, HE WILL REPAY DOUBLE FOLD.  (Dec 19, 2011 | post #2)
