Cavs pull off big deal to land point guard

Brian you have been sorely missed. It's wonderful to see your name in the byline again. Please keep bringing us good news... like perhaps the approval of Snow's injury claim.  (Aug 13, 2008 | post #2)

U.S. ends exhibition run with shaky win

Despite all this talk about LeBron and Kobe being the leaders, they have yet to show it in back-to-back games. 23 owned the 3rd Qtr against Turkey and KB24 took over against the Russians. Still, the most important players on the team are the PGs. If CP3 doesn't learn how to stop dribble penetration and Deron Will's teammates keep leaving him on an island against smaller, quicker players, these games will keep getting harder to stomach. But my biggest concern is our total lack of interior defense and rebounding. It is very alarming, especially without Chandler to erase mistakes like he did in Vegas last summer. A one-legged Greg Oden would be more of a presence in that wacky lane than any of our alleged "bigs". That said, when you've got a minimum of five guys who can go off for 25-30pts on any night (LBJ, KB, Melo, Wade, Redd), you have to feel pretty confident. I believe Team USA will be challenged early and often (watch the first half foul discrepancy vs. China), I would still bet a pound of gold they will be standing on the top of the podium.  (Aug 6, 2008 | post #1)

Indians lose 14-12 to Tigers in 13 innings

When fans are forced to watch an entire season of brutally bad baseball, it's at least refreshing to get some entertainment value for your buck once in awhile. Thanks Kelly. Garko start packing your bags. And Victor start taking extra grounders at 1B. If Choo/LaPorta OR Hodges/Aubrey can make a real impact next year we may actually have something resembling a lineup.  (Jul 31, 2008 | post #2)

Buckeyes get three noon starts for football games

Screwing a Buckeye will get you a Big Ten Championship Ring and set your family up for life. Screwing a Zip will get you free tickets to the Rubber Bowl. It's your choice.  (Jul 3, 2008 | post #12)

Tribe roster moves? Maybe. New closer? Probably

Marlins F.O. finds a way to get Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez, Andrew Miller and Cameron Maybin. Rays get Kazmir for Victor Zambrano Seattle gets Freddie Garcia, Carlos Guillen and John Halama for the Unit. Anything short of those deals for the best left-handed innings-eater in the bigs is highway robbery. We MUST get at least three players who will be solid major-leaguers by 2010.  (Jul 3, 2008 | post #6)

Celtics make Cavs look good

If Thibodeau designed the scheme where Pierce literally grabs LeBron's, and Kobe's right arm when they beat him off the dribble and holds on like a bull rider, then more power to him. But I think his greatest innovation is making the Defensive 3 seconds penalty disappear. The refs would give the Cavs a complimentary call in the first 3 minutes of each game, then allow KG, Perkins, Brown and Big Baby to play CYO 2-1-2 in the middle of the paint, while Z stood 20 feet away. I'm sick of this garbage about how great the Celtics are defensively. It's all in the application of the rules, or lack thereof.  (Jun 10, 2008 | post #4)

an empty-basket case

On Opening Night Dallas double and even triple-teamed LeBron when he came off the high pick, allowing our bigs to roll down the middle of the lane (which sadly none of them do now that DrewShawn Goodenson is in Chi)... all night he looked confused and frustrated and only managed to score a measely 10pts. But two days later, he lit up the supposedly "resurgent " Knicks for 45. I will be shocked if we do not see a repeat performance Thursday. Anything less than 38/10/6 will be a major letdown. And- He will NEVER miss three consecutive lay-ups in the 4th quarter again.  (May 7, 2008 | post #11)

cavs barrel over wizards

Butler killed us two years ago and is the engine that drives their team. His hip is clearly bothering him. He simply cannot change directions... looks very similar to Boobie three weeks ago. That said, this was the FIRST EVER Statement game for Mike Brown. He had the midas touch all game, from putting Joe Smith on Jamison, to LeBron on Arenas... but the best thing I saw tonight were actual plays run for Shooters - Z, Wally, Boobie. Let teams double and triple Lebron. When NBA Shooters get open shots on the move, they tend to go down. We saw it tonight. Danny Ferry has taken enough heat over the past 18 months. It's time to give him some credit.  (Apr 21, 2008 | post #1)
