Jim does not own the DD does he? I would assume that he has someone that he answers to...my suggestion is that this issue should be brought to that person(s) attention...I would assume that having the loss in hits on the DD site would be concerning to those that sell the advertising space for the DD...I looked today and there are 2 stories that would have generated many, many comments in the past, Topete jury being selected and the recent shooting homocide at La Finca...there are ZERO comments on either story.  (Mar 8, 2011 | post #26)

New lawyers for suspected cop-killer

Sent: I want to preface my comment by saying that if Topete is found guilty of the crimes he is charged with I am in favor of the death penalty for him...with that being said, I disagree with your take on the Defense Attorneys...Defense Attorneys are an absolute necessity to help insure the integrity of our legal system. Law Enforcement is required to follow the law in carrying out their duties. Defense Attorneys and fair trials help to insure that these rules/laws are followed...without defense attorneys looking out fo rthe rights of the accused our legal system would crumble.  (Mar 7, 2011 | post #12)

I emailed Jim and pointed out the safety issues that others have pointed out on this forum...his response was that since the switch the traffic to the DD website has remained unchanged and that he has to do far less work monitoring the comments. He also stated that he failed to see how posting under your FB profile was dangerous...To be honest, I find it impossible that the website traffic has not decreased...prior to the change articles would frequently get 75-100 comments...The most I have seen since the switch has been 5. I do not think that Jim's workload should even be a consideration...I can tell you one thing, if I was advertising on DD I would not be happy...there is no way that traffic can not be WAY down.  (Mar 7, 2011 | post #24)

Yolo deputies cleared in '09 shooting of Woodlander

What exactly is "not right" with what has been investigated and reviewed by 5 different agencies...Yes 5...The Yolo Sheriff's Department...2. The WPD.....3. the Yolo DA's office...4. Cal DOJ...5. Federal DOJ. What exactly would you consider "independent "???  (Feb 18, 2011 | post #140)

The report stated that he ran 200-300 feet before spinning and swinging the knife at the deputy's midsection...Once Navarro pulled the knife I do not see any issue with the use of deadly force.  (Feb 18, 2011 | post #138)

I understand from what you have said on here that you looked into Navarro's eyes as he ran past your vehicle...and that you then saw him turn and "fight" with the officers while watching from your rear view mirror...the issue I, and I think others as well, have is when you state that Navarro absolutely had no knife when, admittedly, your vantage point was limited at best.  (Feb 18, 2011 | post #133)

Pulling out a knife and trying to slash a police officer is not justification for the police to use deadly force? Please explain.  (Feb 18, 2011 | post #129)

Investigation closed on Woodland's Gutierrez shooting

Sorry your feelings got hurt but I did not think I used any derogatory language towards you...I simply disagree with your anti law enforcement positions. You have a lot of info on the three dot tattoos, that's great and very useful but not in this matter...you see, Navarro had one dot on is right knuckle and then three dots on his left knuckles...so that when making fists and extending them it would signify the number 13 which is a sureno tattoo...when you take that information and combine that with the information that he was riding in the same car with a validated sureno it is more than reasonable to come to the conclusion that Navarro was AT LEAST affiliated with the sureno street gang. This incident has been looked at from every angle...all with the same conclusions. Sorry, but in this matter, the officers acted properly.  (Feb 16, 2011 | post #21)

Talk about muddying the waters...read a report...He was VERY HIGH on meth...the metabolized levels were HIGH. It is in the report that is online. He had Sureno tattoos and was listed in a report prior to the shooting where he was with a validated sureno gang member...the knife did not have his prints but DID have his DNA on it...There are people trying to muddy the waters...they are you and the other anti-law enforcement folks who post on this forum. Bottom line is this thing has been looked up one side and down the other and the conclusions are the same...The officers acted properly. For yours and others wild theories about what happened that day to be different than the NUMEROUS independant reports and investigations would mean that there was a cover-up so large that it would have to bridge County, City, State, and Federal agencies AND would also involve private folks such as the doctors and lab techs...Come on, get serious...  (Feb 16, 2011 | post #14)

Well then you may want to re-read the reports that are available to the public...Navarrro ran quite a distance from the officers AFTER they identified themselves...Navarro then turned and tried to stab/slash the Sgt...that is when he was shot.  (Feb 16, 2011 | post #96)

You conveniently left out that the kid would also have to be a gang affiliate, high on meth...oh yeah...and that he tried to murder a police officer...other than those pesky little details you are right on the money.  (Feb 16, 2011 | post #11)

Well if you knew a guy whose cousin's gardner's roomate met a guy in the bar whose friend worked at the funeral home then it must be true...give everyone a break.  (Feb 16, 2011 | post #94)

My bad... "Lead" was not in the title...It was a medical examiner by the name of Dr. Reiber. According to the report the autopsy was also witnessed by an employee of the coroners office and the WPD detective investigating the incident.  (Feb 15, 2011 | post #82)

State wants to disconnect prison cell phones

Not once but twice! The guards should have to clear metal detectors coming to work every day...you would think that they would want this...one bad apple could bring in items far more dangerous than a cell phone.  (Feb 15, 2011 | post #4)
