Dont Panic 42 Profile
This post is just like "Days of Our Lives" you can not look at it for 6 months and yet when you return you can pick back up where you left off because all that has happened is accusations and dramatic undertones then.... nothing... absolutely nothing... On a lighter side, I ate at Murph's restaurant today and I was very impressed. The food was very good and the townsfolk were all smiling. The only complaint was, there was hardly nowhere to park since the streets were full. That was the best thing I've seen in years, people are actually around town again. (Nov 11, 2012 | post #1215)
Roger Daltrey (lead singer of The Who) is a great lead singer. Lol I'm sure Dave appreciates the compliment. My only point was if you need to complain about someone don't complain about things that they should not be involved in, when they don't get involved. Let the people who know how to do the work and get paid for it make the decision and do the work. That is actually a good quality (not micro-management) I wish my last boss was not such a micro-manager. (Nov 1, 2012 | post #1143)
Why would you expect the mayor to be digging on a water leak? Do you expect the principal of a school to drive the school buses, or the coach of a football team to kick a field goal? No, as an elected leader he should do just that... lead. (Nov 1, 2012 | post #1140)
Yes it is their job and they do get paid; however, that does not mean that residents should not be thankful to the guys that do the work providing a service to you. I have a stressful job (not for CoS in case you were wondering) and even though I get paid, it is still nice to hear from someone who appreciates the work you do. Do you not thank a fast food vendor when they serve you food, a mechanic that fixes your car, and a soldier protecting your freedom? Even though the scale of the work is different that does not mean we should lose our common decency and not be appreciative of anyone doing work that is mutually beneficial for us and them. Scott Lemley, Donald Mason, and Robert "Bob" Gorby are Wetzel County Commisioners. (Oct 26, 2012 | post #1094)
Eric Vincent, John Stender, and Charles "Pork" Smith for any that do not know who are our current County Commissioners. I know all three of them and can say that as far as I know they are good people and have not heard any complaints about them. (Oct 26, 2012 | post #1091)
The parade was a wonderful event. It was amazing to see so many smiling children with hope for the future. The only thing I was disappointed with was the lack of respect by so many parents smoking in the streets around kids. Other than that it was wonderful. (Oct 26, 2012 | post #1089)
I sort of agree with you. But I love Sistersville and would not choose to live somewhere else; however, I do agree that people don't seem as friendly anymore but I believe that has more to do with much bigger things than city politics. I believe the United States in general is a painful place to live with such high unemployment rates, rising inflation, threat of terror, religious oppresion, uncertainty of the future etc. To me it feels like the people in this country are like a pimple being squeezed and we are about to pop (i know, gross but true). Overall though, it seems to me that the people of Sistersville have remained curtious to others well beyond many other cities. Just look at the Criss Rice situation, when someone from our community is truly in need people band together and help out. Everyone just needs to calm down and do some soul searching and try to remember to smile at others and turn the other cheek often. Now I'm not saying look the other way and let people walk all over you but just treat people how you expect to be treated. (Oct 26, 2012 | post #1088)
Day after day, alone on a hill, the man with a foolish grin is sitting perfectly still. (Oct 25, 2012 | post #1080)
The Humvee was a military surplus item that was put on a site for all police departments in America. It was simply given to the svl pd with the only stipulation being that they come and pick it up. It did not cost anything except for taxes. In case you haven't noticed we live in a very rural area. Not saying we "need" it but it could be justified to get to a cabin in the woods or disaster support in a blizzard or something like that. The awarding of that Humvee does not have any impact on efforts to obtain other loans.... Move along, next subject. (Oct 20, 2012 | post #1054)
http://home.howstu ffworks.com/real-e state/who-owns-an- abandoned-house2.h tm To the question on abandoned houses by POW or PhOWard. Unfortunatly abandoned houses are a hard case to handle as you can see in the article. There is some good advice that might help you though. (Oct 12, 2012 | post #998)
A pirate walks into a bar with a captain's wheel sticking out of his pants. The bartender says do you know you have a captain's wheel sticking out of your pants? The pirate says "argh... its drivin me nuts". (Oct 11, 2012 | post #975)
