Fingerprints to be required for future ammo purchases
It's not the price of the gun or ammo. Anyone who really wants either will find them cheap and plentiful on the street. When we start cracking down on gun crime we might be better off. The punishment for any and every crime committed with a gun should be an automatic life sentence. Period. Maybe if tolerate gun crime less, there will be less gun crime. (Nov 2, 2009 | post #250)

Convicted felons can't own guns in most states, idiot. There's a reason for that. By breaking the law they've given up their right to a firearm, unless of course, you'd like to legally arm every former rapist, murderer, armed robber, child molester and home invader. Not owning a gun is "cruel and unusual punishment"? Maybe in the backwoods where you live, but most civilized people live perfectly normal lives without ever firing a gun once in their entire lives. And, BTW, I have 2 shotguns at my house and I know how to use them both. That doesn't mean I think everyone on this planet either deserves to have a gun or is capable of using one with any degree of sanity. Just reading many of these posts scares me to death. Wow, sounds like you give your mom a lot to be proud of. So glad you were able to "beat" the system and actually admit to being a law breaker. Like they say .... only criminals will have guns. Guess, that's truer than we realize. (Nov 2, 2009 | post #245)

If you're a law-abiding citizen, why would it bother you? I would think, as a law-abiding citizen, you would want to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. (Nov 2, 2009 | post #218)
Homecoming rape: When do bystanders become accomplices?
You question the sanity of one 15 year old, but not the sanity of an entire group of people her age or older? Did she do a stupid? Oh, yeah. Way stupid. And who among us hasn't done something similar that put us in jeopardy when we were young? But for the grace of God many of us would't be here today. And I give that group absolutely no excuses whatsoever. Someone among them, one person, that's all it would have taken, could have walked away and gone for help. They didn't have to take on the gang. Just quietly walk away and get help. They stayed and watched because they were enjoying watching this girl get hurt. They stood there for TWO HOURS and watched. Gang or no gang, they are a bunch of sick freaks. They should all be rounded up and locked away. (Nov 2, 2009 | post #154)
Obama community college proposal may not be enough
Another idea would be to expand and invest in technical schools in high school. Teach kids to be job-ready when they graduate from high school. (Nov 2, 2009 | post #11)

We started getting those during Bush's years when big corporations started offshoring decent paying jobs. (Nov 2, 2009 | post #10)
Maybe someone here could explain to us exactly what evil is and how Halloween plays into that evil. (Nov 2, 2009 | post #75)
Gravity is a law of nature. Evil is ignorant people's way of explaining away things they can't understand or want to run away from. (Nov 2, 2009 | post #74)
Evil exists only if you want to believe it does. (Oct 30, 2009 | post #23)
Health insurance companies exempt from anti-trust laws
Those who don't want healthcare reform like being held prisoner by big corporations that pay loads of money to the government for protection. They think it's OK that for 60 years the insurance industry (and government) has made certain we, the consumer, has never had any other choice or option but what they've wanted us to have. A simple call to 911 from a cell phone would have helped a lot. (Oct 30, 2009 | post #13)

America has become a nation of voyeuristic, self-absorbed, mean people for whom when empathy and sympathy were being pass out they decided to stay home that day and play video games. We should all be so proud. (Oct 30, 2009 | post #4)
Phillies fan arrested for offering sex in exchange for Series tix
I'm glad you said "some" women. ;-) There are plenty of users in both genders, but fortunately there are lots of people who still value their self-respect. Susan Finkelstein isn't one of them. (Oct 30, 2009 | post #30)
