Minnesota Senate to trim 10% from per diems; House plans ...

We were talking about house per diems and then you post this? Too much of the medical dope? If you are talking about the criminal attack out west; sad, sick, and the person needs to be punished!  (Jan 8, 2011 | post #25)

You make my point for me; you are not going to get the people you need to lead the state out of the mess it is in unless you can attract them-in today's world we just aren't getting the people we need. Paying less isn't working! I don't have the specific answer however I do think that 40,000 a year even if you give them another 40,000 for per diem is too low. What is their equivalent status in 3M or any of the top ten companies in the state? My guess is they are getting short changed!  (Jan 8, 2011 | post #24)

So they spent $1.62 million over two years? And this is an issue why? How much was spent tracking that figure? Its comical that people really think this is an issue! How much did Microsoft spend on its top 500 employees this year? How about Ford? How about Con-Agra? General Mills? 3M? P&G? You want world class leadership for free. You can now ask why you aren't getting it; then you will complain about all the mistakes they make.....maybe they are spending too much time making sure they have the right receipt from McDonald's....This is way stupid!  (Jan 8, 2011 | post #20)

I am amazed at how people think that the average person can be a leader of a State part time, be the most brilliant person out there, and at the same time not get paid for what they do. If you really want great government you pay for it. As to their "perks", review them and make them worth while and fair. A fair days wage for a fair days work. In the world today they are responsible for millions of people every day and the biggest responsibility? The future of all of us. You want that group of people to spend their time collecting receipts and screwing around worrying about if they are going to get crucified because they don't want to eat at McDonald's? Amazing.....We still think we can have something for nothing while the other guy does all the work and gets nothing.....  (Jan 8, 2011 | post #19)

40,000 a year to run a state........Real people? 40,000 a year? Really? How stupid are you people? You want a premier government for free. You think its fine to pay a Jock millions to entertain you but the people that lead you should do it for free? Idiot! How's the wait in the unemployment line? Can't figure out why the person handing you your check is grumpy? How about you ask why your leaders can't lead? Maybe, just maybe, its because the people we need to lead aren't willing to do it for penny's? 40,000 a year and you live like a king? Really? Where is that at? Some third world country? What needs to happen for all jobs: A fair days wage for a fair days work. Nothing more, nothing less. People that decide the fate of millions and we want them to do it for free?  (Jan 8, 2011 | post #18)

Walker filling in details of his staff

President Obama did the same thing.....change? Not really. Walker has a chance however until he realizes lining his own pockets; creating minimum or close to it wage jobs; forgetting the western part of the state; are not going to work he will be just like the Democrats he replaced-worthless.  (Jan 1, 2011 | post #1)

Costs vs. benefits at heart of standoff between Twin Citi...

If its not about money why are they asking for a raise? Of course its about money! Do Nurses get their fair share? In most cases no they really don't. However the idea that patients should pay more (Money doesn't grow on trees or come out of IV's) is not viable. In case someone failed to tell you health care is broke.....to be honest all medical professionals should expect a pay cut. Now if the Nurses were saying we will take a pay cut if you add more nurses well, I would support that. (I might add everyone else should be to).  (May 29, 2010 | post #10)

Agreed however its not about giving patients care its about giving Nurse's raises, less hours to work, and way more power than they have a right to. A good nurse is awesome....to bad most are in it for the money and could care less about patient care, patient care now falls to the Medical Assistants to do.  (May 29, 2010 | post #6)

Health care bill likely will pass

Where in the Constitution does the Government have the right to force the individual to purchase anything? A fundamental part of our system is the right of the individual yet that has been trashed in favor of the insurance, pharmaceutical, and Allied Health care industry corporations. Show me in the constitution where you have the right to demand something of me that you can get for yourself but won't?  (Mar 22, 2010 | post #47)

Actually most died before it ever got that far. I am not joking. Of the two that I know of that had major issues both lost every thing and ended up living in Government assisted housing. They don't have bankruptcy like we do however it ends up being the same thing.  (Mar 22, 2010 | post #35)
