Rough Healdton road soon to be repaired

I am thrilled that Hosp road is going to be repaired and also that we are getting new water lines---my pressure is so poor it takes 3-4 minutes to fill my sink for dishes. I am also hopeful that E.Sinclair street get some work on it--the poor people on the last two blocks of that street are the ones that really have a vald complaint and also the street at the end of 2nd that goes east toward the cemetary---that street is a big mess---  (Dec 2, 2009 | post #1)

Looking for someone

I cannot believe the hate and lack of gratitude that spews out of the mouths of some people about our military and our nation---and in my opinion it is usually from someone that is sitting home safe and sound on the sofa while someone elses blood is buying thier freedom........  (Nov 14, 2009 | post #2)

Officials try to stop ER overuse [1 hr ago]

too often people have used the ER as an easy way to obtain drugs for personal addiction---when they dont have street drugs available or maybe they are just addicted to any kind of pain med--who knows. I am a nurse and I can tell you there are many times when this happens--- and now with lab work being done and screening for this, it is usually apparent to the medical personel when a patient has a real valid pain or when it is for drug addiction--unfortu nateley that is not always the true case--there are many people that have too take some type of narcotic for pain for a valid reason and unfortunately the medical community has seen so much fraud--esp those in the ER-- that they have became jaded and unsympathetic to those that are having true pain--it is a sad situation.I personally believe that a Dr.or nurse should be rotated out of their ER duties more to prevent this,so that they are better able to deal with the emotional roller coaster of emotions that working there causes so that they might not be so quick to make assumptions- but then there are those patients that have opened the ER door requesting pain meds so many times that the drs and nurses there just know which is valid pain and which is just a hidden request for a quick fix. God bless our Drs and nurses for their dedication and care----  (Aug 26, 2009 | post #3)

you know---sometimes its hard to get over what you get put thru in school by the so called elite fleet-It easy for someone to say "get over it"---but not so easy to do---I know I was raised there, and was not a rich girl--I was a very poor girl from a large family and my dad was a drinker which made me all the more undesirable--becau se after all -we all know it had to be mine and my sisters and brothers fault---I cannot tell you how many humiliating moments I suffered thru in that town, how many partys I ached to be invited too, how many over night slumber partys I wanted to be included in--how humiliated I was to go to a dance and just sit there-not one guy would ask me to dance. Their mommas,or the chaperones would have had a stroke and quietly called him aside to admonish him for his indescretion. And what sin made me so unacceptable in "polite society"--my dad was a drunk and we were dirt poor. Well I did get over it--I left there and got myself an education somewhere else--became a nurse and lived in a big city and never missed one minute of Hollis and its self imposed little social hypocrites that tortured me so relentlessly --oh you know another sin I was cursed with--I was Pretty! very very Pretty. But I raised my kids different from the way things were there--I raised my kids to pick their own friends and pick wisely, but not based on a familys money or so called prestidge--but rather on that persons character and honesty and ability to be a good friend--no matter where they lived or what they had to wear ---And I am quite proud to say I have raised good strong sons and daughters--all hard working and prosperous and honest kind and loving to all colors and class of people. SO yes--I have "gotten over it" the question is--has the person that made that statement gotten over it?  (Aug 24, 2009 | post #25)

hospital street repair

I noticed this morning that city workers, and DOCAguys along with a local cement truck was hard at work repairing the east side of the big chug hole that was in question a few weeks ago when a gentlemen hit it and damaged his vehicle---they repaired the west side last week and kept it blocked off till the concrete set up,I presume.--anyway it looks nice. My big question is this---further north on Hospital road--just right before you reach the shcool--there is another huge hole in the road--- I am thinking it is the intersection of hosp road and maybe the street that goes in front of the old school-- but cant remember for sure right now--I just know its down there in that area--are the city guys gonna get that fixed---to my mind it is much bigger and rougher on vehicles than this little problem that was at the corner of Hosp road and Daniels st. It would be nice to have smooth streets all over town, but I realize these things take time and lots of money,however- as mentioned--time and money are needed too achieve this goal.  (Aug 24, 2009 | post #1)

That is so laughable--do you honestly believe that the fine men and women that work to make that Derby such a success year after year would dump poison snakes in a dumpster----come on---give me a major break!!!!!!!!!!!  (Aug 23, 2009 | post #12)

Teen dies in Greer County crash

I remember driving north on Lousiaina street right in front of the police dept when the highway patrol that lived there atthe time whipped around in the middle of the street (in front of Traffic) and followed me--I ahd turned left onto Jefferson street and had traveled half a block when he threw his light on me---got out and asked me why Ididnt have myseat belt on---I toldhim "I do" and hooked my thumb under my waist belt to show him--he told me that wasnt good enough, thatI had to have the shoulder belt on also---I truly did not realize that, but he had no mercy--gave me a ticket and was quite rude while doing it...Thankfully that OHP officer is no longer in Mangum--he is now a big OHP officer with the OKLA DOT,so he can now be rude to truckers. I paid my fine later that week--I certainly did not argue with him---but to this day think his attiude was absolutely not professinal and very rude. His professional job change and subsequent move was Mangums gain!!!!!!  (Aug 23, 2009 | post #5)
