Sources: Tim Floyd to be named UTEP basketball coach

Pretty amazing news! If this is for the better of the program I'm all for it. Just hope those infractions don't come back to bite him. The storyline should remain focused on the players, the team, and the program.  (Mar 30, 2010 | post #71)

Dickey knows the program, knows the players and he would not break UTEP's precious salary cap. He has put his time in and deserves a shot. Go Miners! Not to pour salt in the wound but is there any truth to the rumor that Barbee told his players he was leaving during the C-USA Tournament? Not that this makes any difference .... the question has been going around in my head.  (Mar 29, 2010 | post #61)

UTEP basketball: Steppingstone to better jobs

I was pleasantly surprised to read all of these great comments. And very good points I might add....Here's my .02 cents for what it's worth... The rumor mill I have heard is that Mike Price makes more money than the mayor and is considered to the highest salary based person in the public eye for El Paso. Regardless of whether or not it is true it's the perception. Money may not be the 100% motivating factor to stay or go but to be honest it has alot to do with it. Prestige is another factor and yet another is the actual fan base. Most of you have alluded to that on this thread. I agree you can't blame Barbee, it's the above factors all rolled into one that make the difference. My point is when all three factors are present you can expect a quality program. Great example.... nobody knew of Gonzaga 7 years ago unless you were an allumni? Well now where and how do you personally see the program with reference to Basketball........ ..  (Mar 26, 2010 | post #69)

UTEP men's basketball fans still bleed orange despite cru...

I'll be the first to eat crow. Yes you are correct UTEP did have a good season and we all should be proud of this.... including UTEP. Next year will be even better provided provided all players return. This game against Butler is just hard to swallow right now seeing how it started on the right foot. The 3's killed us vs. Houston and the 3's killed us today. Thank you UTEP it was a pleasant ride, keep up your heads and we will go at again next year.  (Mar 19, 2010 | post #3)

2010 UTEP football schedule released

You betcha! Although my Marine Corps days are over. I'm serving DoD as free loving Civilian.... Regarding the schedule.....Somet hing is just not quite right. It may be that Mike Price has put a halt to his sales pitch.....And then again it could be the easier schedule has been sought out for purposes of pumping up his likability. He 's not the fondest of folks right now most importantly with the El Paso Community. I've been away from E.P. for the last 25 years but I still remember where I came from. I love my Miners no matter the outcome. Go Miners!!!  (Mar 17, 2010 | post #29)

2010 UTEP football schedule released

Looks to me like someone is out to gain some respect back to Mike Price. Either that or no other non-conference teams are interested in playing UTEP. Arkansas is the respectible team outside of the conference. The schedule looks weak.....so weak in fact if UTEP doesn't make the bowl scene next year Mike Price oughta make a quick exit somewhere safer like Juarez......  (Mar 16, 2010 | post #11)

Yes you and I wouldn't consider UTEP winning an upset but from the Nations's perspective it would be. This is a good matchup and I think that UTEP will surprise the entire college BB world by demonstrating what we already know they are capable of doing. Miners by 6. Go Miners!!!!  (Mar 16, 2010 | post #29)

UTEP men's basketball team prepares for NCAA tournament g...

The selections of Utah St. & UTEP are adding to the controversy of the selection committee. Statements like this has been the worst selected field of teams in the history of the tournament. I and this is just me but I thought UTEP accomplished enough to get the invite. I heard Bobby Knight in an interview the other night say that the selections should be based on what teams have accomplished to this point and not what a number like the RPI indicates. I personally feel there should be some sort of formula that decides the field. Example: % for being ranked ...% for winning the regular season championship % for winning the conference tournament and not making this an automatic bid. I am just happy it happened the way it did. I'll be looking for an upset of Butler. Go Miners!!!!  (Mar 16, 2010 | post #8)
