Working in retail

I'm sure most of the people on this thread have been on vacation. We don't hate all tourists, just the tourons. They are more high-strung down here than they are back home. Just because it's your vacation does not mean everyone living in the place you visit should have to throw down what they are doing just to make you feel happy. I understand you want to sightsee, but that does not mean you go 10-20 under. There is a difference between tourists and tourons. We just tend to see more of the latter and it pisses us off.  (Oct 14, 2010 | post #29)

Marijuana - Kill Devil Hills, NC

I've never had alcohol, no. I've never been interested in it and I would much rather function sober, that's all. I don't think it's the 'Devil's sauce' (lol at the name) and I think it's their business if they feel like drinking. They might drink, I don't know. I probably should have phrased it better. I think that everything currently illegal should stay so, and that we need a better system in place for the purchase of alcohol, tobacco and especially prescription drugs. Sorry if my phrasing caused confusion.  (Sep 19, 2010 | post #48)

Dog days really are no day at the beach in N.C.

I agree with her idea for limited summer access. It seems very fair to me. 6PM to 10AM? As long as they clean up, her logic seems sound. And the comments are kind of funny. The one is freaking out about dog bites. I've been attacked by a dog; I'm not afraid of random dogs coming up to me on the beach, though.  (Aug 11, 2010 | post #1)

First of all, thank you for your service. Thank you for keeping us safe. Also, I know that there are many worse places, Ithink I stated that in my previous post, however there are certain neighborhoods in Norfolk that are like that. Not all of them, just certain blocks. I assume you lived near or on a military base? The neighborhoods I'm referring to aren't anywhere near the base.  (Aug 7, 2010 | post #32)

Kill Devil Hills man dies from May 21 motorcycle crash

My sincere condolences to the family and friends, and I hope the truck driver gets his. But I don't seem to recall a discussion for the loss of Earl last year.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #2)

Duck Fire Chiefs Unmarked Black Tahoe

I don't care whether Ms. Black is a woman or not, lesbian or not. I still think that the best Fire Cheif we ever had was JB, who held the position before Duck became a freaking town. He got fired unfairly by the town manager as soon as we gained townhood, leading to the loss (read as, they quit) of a bunch of really good men and women to DVFD, and the decline in quality of the annual pig pickin'. Of course, the whole place has gone to hell since townhood, so whatever. I'm just happy I moved.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #13)

Pit bulls are always 'babies' until they maul our loved ones

Can I ask what education I could get that would dissuade me from reading about a multitude of topics? Maybe I just didn't explain myself properly. The founder of PETA has herself said that she is afraid of and hates pitbulls, and she thinks that they and other domestic animals are freaks of nature and have now right existing. Add that to the multiple news stories of PETA trucks driving around, picking up unwanted animals, and then, rather than trying to find them a home, they euthanize the poor animals right in the back of the van. There was even one case where one of these vans simply dumped the corpses into a Walmart dumpster. PETA shelter records even show staggering amounts of euthanizations and hardly any adoptions. They have a 93% kill rate in VA Beach, whereas the area's SPCA shelter right next door has about a 74% adoption rate. Sorry for reading up on things I'm interested in.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #57)

Not to seem insensitive or anything, but that was completely incomprehensible. Clarify, please?  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #2)

Also, I don't think any of you really understand what a ghetto is, or even a trashy neighborhood. Try being born in and living for a few years in Norfolk or VA Beach where you hear gunshots every night. And even that isn't a ghetto. Get real people.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #30)

Funny as hell. Did you not hear about the huge rash of break-ins in Duck/SS? It's not as safe there as you think. Trust me, I lived there my whole life too, and yet somehow I am not as pretentious as you seem to be.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #29)

Verigo Tattoo steps on it

Is the parking price just for bikers? Because if it's for everyone, they're basically 'raping' everyone who wants/gets tats.  (Apr 20, 2010 | post #2)
