Legalities and technicalities...

yea, its not like youre unemployed and are seeking a job. You have a job and then thru wjatever process your company decides you dont have a job. Its a separation and not thru misconduct or unacceptable performance.  (Feb 21, 2012 | post #19)

We received the severence booklet awhile back for hourly, so i know they have one. Just no clue whether or not they will offer this benefit if we interview and arent selected.  (Feb 20, 2012 | post #16)

How to save the company

Mandatory insprections upon exit? Free to get in but pay to leave restrooms. Not a job I want, lol.  (Feb 20, 2012 | post #5)

Life and Luck

Well what it boils down to is that walg will do what they have planned and we cant change it. Hopefully they will do it with respect and in a timely manner so we can deal and get on with life. What we CAN do is decide how we act and how we feel. Want to wish the best of luck to everyone, try not to let it ruin your life worrying and whatever happens move on with life and make the most of it. I`ve met some great people and overall enjoyed my time, take care and God bless.  (Feb 20, 2012 | post #1)

Wade MiquelonWalgreen's CFO...2 DUI's living well

Lol, I would imagine if say said drunk person made a scene in store, customer recognizes him as an employee and calls corporate to complain hes at least writtenup, that i could understand. As for Mr Miquelon tbh we dont know whats going on. Does he indeed have an unchecked problem or is he fighting alcoholism and having a tough time. Personally, I wouldnt want someone with a bad addiction problem running my company,.  (Feb 20, 2012 | post #8)

Wade MiquelonWalgreen's CFO...2 DUI's living well

Was told by my store manager upon seeing one of our cashiers walk in drunk one day on his day off ......that if one of us managers got a dui we would be canned. Dont know if thats policy but spoke volumes to us lol.  (Feb 20, 2012 | post #6)

Its very sad to see anyone struggle with addiction and abuse, he could have killed himself or others, never ever get into a vehicle in an impaired condition. We were always told that if we ever got a dui we were fired, period. Guess thins like that dont apply at the top. I think we as a company have lost the honor and respect we once had.  (Feb 20, 2012 | post #2)

I`m assuming that those who dont get kept will not be able to cashin vacation or sick days, they will be lost. In light of the strong year walgreens had last year I would hope they do offer the severence package to those who go. I think that even tho this is a pro-employer state that if I dont get kept and dont get offered severence that I will be sitting down with an attorney.  (Feb 20, 2012 | post #13)

The only thing I know of from previously reading the severence agreement is that you sign a waiver saying you will not sue walgreens nor take legal action on any grounds. Basically, there are many in mgt who know of abuses etc who in order to `get along` didnt say anything. But if they were to lose their jobs they may wish to start singing. The severence agreement is to prevent this. basically again, sign the paper, we give you some money, and you keep your mouth shut.  (Feb 20, 2012 | post #8)

Legalities and technicalities...

Just curious if anyone on here knows the law? It appears certain that people will lose their jobs this year after failing to be picked after `interviewing` for their jobs. I`m curious how this is legally considered since you have a job now but after interviews get released. Is it a layoff? A firing? There is a separation so how is it justified......is there a recourse to severence pay? Unemplyment pay? Does this vary by state? I know that Walg will do what they will do for the best of the company no matter the consequences on the employees lost or without regards to the law. It just seems so coldhearted to cut people loose without any compensation. All that bs you put up with and all the abuse you put up with, the times you covered shifts or worked really sick.....all to be a team player. And now just get cut loose. All I know is that people will go from having a job to not having a job, and that separation is considered how legally? Thanks folks D  (Feb 20, 2012 | post #1)
