Twilight.....sort of

I've read all four books three times and have seen the movie four times. Edward Cullen does remind me of Mr. Darcy and author Stephenie Meyer is a big Jane Austen fan. One of Twilight websites/podcast did a comparison between Twilight and Pride & Prejudice - it was spot on! Also, like recent books that show P&P from Darcy's POV, Stephenie Meyer is writing/has started Midnight Sun which is from Edward's POV. I'm definitely a Twilighter too!  (Dec 10, 2008 | post #19)

Richard Armitage in Spooks

It's great that RA will be on Spooks/MI-5, but I read that Rupert Penry-Jones will be leaving :-( I'm bummed because I love the Adam Carter character though no one can replace Tom Quinn aka MM.  (Apr 26, 2008 | post #8)

Who played Elizabeth (Pride & Prejudice) better?

gwyn, I also loved the 1940 P&P version with Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier. :D I became a fan of Greer's after seeing her in Random Harvest and then Mrs. Miniver.  (Mar 13, 2008 | post #7)

The Men of Jane Austen

Like Sharon, I had to chose Captain Wentworth because I love RPJ too. After becoming a fan of his from MI-5 (watching it initially for Matthew's character), I think this was a good role for him. Hope to see more roles for him in the future.  (Mar 11, 2008 | post #8)

Who played Elizabeth (Pride & Prejudice) better?

Though I definitely lean towards Keira, I selected that they both made the role unique. Jennifer was the first Elizabeth Bennet I saw so that makes her special, but Keira is my favorite.  (Mar 11, 2008 | post #3)

When you first saw P&P, what was your first thought.........

I saw P&P with my college-aged daughter and was prepared not to like it since I loved the A&E Colin Firth version. I liked Keira as an actress, but had no idea who Matthew MacFadyen was. From the minute that Matthew spoke his first lines, I loved his voice and of course, his accent. Though I didn't want to like him better than Colin Firth, his expressions and mannerisms captivated me. When he and Keira had the "rain" scene, I knew that Matthew portrayed Darcy the way I thought he should be. After seeing P&P, I went to www.imdb.com to see what other movies Matthew had been in. I started with MI-5, rented the entire series, and then rented his other movies. Like so many of you know - he's just too marvelous for words :D  (Mar 6, 2008 | post #5)

Jane Austen Action Figure?!

Jane has a quill pen, a copy of P&P, and small portable desks. I would say that she's more of a super hero than an action figure - her powers are writing timeless stories that provide happiness and a lot of sighs (you know how you are, Mr. Darcy) :D  (Dec 13, 2007 | post #7)

What catchy phrases do you like to use?

I have had "Are you having a pleasant trip?" and "I've been nonsensical" on my screensaver at work. You can imagine that I get questions about those phrases and always spread the gospel about P&P with Matthew an Kiera.  (Nov 13, 2007 | post #7)
