What do the above comments have to do with lawyers? Idiotic. (Tuesday Dec 1 | post #42)
O.K., I'm not a member of the Roman's family, not related in any way. We bought a truck from Russ Rogers in Bartlesville (couldn't find the one we wanted around here) and now they're out of business. Romans has done warranty work on it several times, never has refused to do it. So, I don't know what you are talking about that they won't do warranty work on GM cars bought elsewhere. We've only bought one vehicle from them, a van. And they took care of it also. (Tuesday Dec 1 | post #63)
I've had AT&T since 2002, fool that I am, but I started with Cingular on a cheap, $29.99/mo. plan and I get another $3.00 off for having it billed with my home phone. The service has been pretty lousy in this area, but I have great service everywhere I go, except Roaring River, MO! Due to all my complaining about the lousy service over the years, I have gotten 3 different phones without having to sign a 2 yr. contract, and I got an extra 100 bonus minutes. It does pay to bitch!! I believe that AT&T is more concerned about selling phones, rather than service after the sale. I would love to have an Iphone, but don't want the added expense of $30/mo. for the data plan. Those monthly expenses add up, and pretty soon, you've got more than you can pay, no what I mean? Amen to making improvements. Our problem is, our house is brick and they usually always look pretty good, so the evaluation just keeps going up. The house cost $9200 to build in 1967 and we added on in 1979 at a cost of about $11,000. Now, the county thinks it's worth $100K plus. When I protest the new appraisals, all they will say is, "Well, would you sell it for that?" I say, "No, I wouldn't sell it for $500,000, as I'd just have to buy another place to live. And, it's my home." I may have to re-think that when the real estate starts moving again!!!! We're sure not going to be doing any painting of the trim, etc. (Saturday Nov 21 | post #33)
Jim Jordan was an oil man, and they lived right west of Cherryvale. He's dead now. His wife's name was Donnelle. They had a girl, Jennifer, who was married to a Bone. The two you mentioned could be her daughters. Her cousin is Larry Jordan, who is a preacher in Erie, KS. I was just told that Donnelle is there as well. She would be Jennifer's mother. Hope this helps. (Thursday Nov 19 | post #3)
I wonder what they'll do when we can't pay our taxes and they force us out, and who will be left to buy up all the properties? No matter how much money you have, you can only buy so much property. Or, people will sell out, take a loss and move. (Thursday Nov 19 | post #12)
I agree that they are trying to tax our properties right out from under us. If I didn't have a family farm here and my kids weren't here, I would move. I haven't received my tax statement yet and I'm scared to death what it will be. You know when you retire and are on a fixed income and they continue to raise your taxes every year, there's comes a time when you could be forced to sell, just to survive. In Lousiana, after you turn 65, your taxes are frozen. (Monday Nov 16 | post #5)
Remember When in Independence, KS
I believe that he meant the "Out Our Way' club! And yes, Ashcraft's used to be the Glencliff Dairy. My Dad used to take me in there for double dip chocolate ice cream cones for .10! Now you know I'm older than dirt!!! (Friday Nov 13 | post #368)
I'm not trying to demean what the fire department and ems guys do by any means. I just thought it might have been a little bit overkill for a squirrel. Come on guys, a squirrel! People kill them and eat them. (Wednesday Nov 11 | post #14)
Congratulations Bulldogs for a great season. And also to our Cherryvale Chargers, for even though they lost, they are still heroes in our eyes! (Sunday Nov 8 | post #10)
Mill levy to chomp more taxpayer money
O.K. guys, I lost a house to fire once, and I'm not knocking having good equipment, but this mentality that you have to spend it or lose it, has got to stop. Every entity in the country operates on this premise. From the lowest level, towns, to the highest, federal. The told us that years ago when we were president and secretary-treasure r of the Little League. You got $400 (then) from the city to operate, and the outgoing pres said, "You better spend it all, or you won't get as much next year." Well, we were frugal, and took the money and had some left over, and whether or not, they got less the next year, I didn't ever find out. But I felt good that we actually had money left in the treasury, when it was in the hole when we took over. Everyone thinks that when they're spending other people's money, it's o.k. to spend like there's no tomorrow. In reality, they should spend like it's their own personal money, which in a way, it is. Bulldogs win first playoff game ever!!!!
Indy Girl, I only saw one negative comment. The rest were all positive, so that kind of overides the negative remark. (Nov 4, 2009 | post #11)
