Pick on battles you can actually win. Do you honestly think an apology will make it all better? Everyone has acknowledged the colonial era and slavery and many-a-memorial are set in place. In America they celebrate balck history month. Does that improve things for the blacks? No. Why can't you see that you are barking up the wrong tree on this one. What you want, you'll never get. At least not a satisfactory acknoledgement by your standards. Land is redistributed/repossessed in Zimbabwe as we speak. Are the people any better off? The good aspects of Zimbabwe are that though we still have a lot of work to do, issues of inflation have been curbed. This was by the adoption of the US dollar instead of the ZW$. A government of national unity has been established bring to an end mass violence and civil unrest. Investors are now considering us instead of staying well clear of us. In the last year, the nation was able to sustain itself in terms of food reserves etc etc and many more. We are however not naive enough to think the worst is over. There is a real risk that the GNU can collapse giving rise to lawlessness and political persecution. The economy is striving despite the global recession leaving chance to a boom-bust situation. Although one can never fully trust the powers that be, there seems to be real hope that we are moving in the right direction. Slow as it may be, it is welcome movement in my opinion. Sorry Pal, I am not a doctor. I unfortunately do not hold a Doctorate. YET! Are you suggesting that by virtue of not living in Africa I have ceased to be a true African? I would think twice before I affirm this rediculous notion. I have not and would not imply the racial card. By what evidence do you support this absurd accusation? Furthermore, I would not be choked if what you say about africaaners is true. They too deserve to have what is rightfully theirs. Do you not think that this will have no positive outcome as then the cycle will never end? The concept of Land redistribution had it been executed in good faith and equitably, was long overdue. Research the 1978/79 Lancaster house agreements. The problem with most people in the so called civilised world is that they only became aware of Zimbabwe when the white farmers were disposed. This is sad because Mugabe had long shown the extent he was willing to go in order to rule with an iron fist. Where were you when the Matebeleland people were slaughtered and persecuted between 1983-1988? Where was the international community if not honouring Mugabe with Noble Peace prizes? In your opinion, I am not be true African but I am bloody well more Zimbabwean than you will ever be!I was there in the Smith regime and again in the Mugabe premiership so do not tell me what or who I am sunshine! I think you are missing the point here. The media is nothing but a tool for politicians. It is neither the problem nor the solution. The press have their own agenda. Mainly to sell newspapers and make money. They do not give a flying fu*k about the core issues. Zimbabwean papers are state regulated hence nothing but propaganda is printed on the rags. I challenge your statement referrring to how Mugabe is, like Mandela, fighting for his people. I know for a fact that a small minority are reaping the benefits of his efforts whilst the common man on the street suffers with little to nothing to feed his family. I do not see the so called Imperialists beating the common Zimbabwean on the streets of Harare. What I do see is armed militants attacking defenseless people who want nothing more than a fair chance to make it in life. Though I appreciate conversing with you, I am struggling to follow your input. I do apologise for English is not my first language and from what I can gather, neither is it yours. Bearing this in mind, you most probably mean well but you seem to be offering me validation for being a "true African". This I do not require my good friend.
