Happy Holidays!

DeltonaTV will show decorated homes MARK HARPER, Staff Writer News-Journal Online.com DELTONA -- The city's best-lit homes will take center stage on DeltonaTV starting next week as part of a contest. The "Holiday Parade of Homes," a photo slideshow, will feature residences with the city's best Christmas-light displays. The pictures can be seen on the city's television station, Bright House Channel 199, during the nonprogramming bulletin board segments. Contestants, who must also be city residents, can e-mail pictures of their decorated homes to: holidayhomes@delto nafl.gov . Residents will also have an opportunity to view the entries and vote on them on the city's website, deltonafl.gov, until Three Kings Day, Jan. 6. Lee Lopez, who manages the TV station's content as the city's public information officer, said he started posting photos of impressive exterior-light displays last year. When someone told him the city of DeBary has a contest, Lopez said he decided to bring that concept to Deltona, too. The winner will receive a $50 gift card to Anderson's Ace Hardware on Providence Boulevard. Bill Anderson, owner of the store, said he agreed to support the contest because Deltona could use a little brightening up. "Sometimes you drive around town, it doesn't look too good," he said. "(Christmas lights) get everybody in the mood this time of year."  (Dec 22, 2010 | post #2)

Wanted: Economic 'savior of Deltona'

Solution: Form a board of realtors like Venice Fl. They meet similar to our commission meetings. Many would welcome the opportunity to sell/ secure land, business, etc. These people are licensed and have the education to guide the city in the right direction. Economic hardship for realtors could help boost the realtors who have been forced to find work in other professions. Let's think smarter not harder Deltona.  (Dec 15, 2010 | post #9)

Deltona reconsiders City Hall plan

Save on remodeling. Create jobs and hire security or install scanner like Volusia County and Seminole County Courthouse. I'm sure the stations can be handled by COP.  (Dec 15, 2010 | post #1)

Deltona reduces code fine for 'repeat offender'

I'm sorry to say I am tired of the back peddling our commissioners do. Compassion is one thing but our commission has a habit of flip flopping on decisions. A little community service picking up trash might make offenders appreciate being a part of the city. If they don't like it they can move into a condo or apt. where others are paid to keep the property clean. People laugh at fines unless "jail time" for non payment is included in the clause. Can't wait until Mayor John has a chance to sort out the mess in Deltona. Change is coming!!  (Dec 15, 2010 | post #1)

Deltona questions boxing coach's past

I don't think the city should support anything where people intentionally beat on each other. Just saying. This man can open his own business as a non profit or business enterprise.  (Dec 15, 2010 | post #1)
