If this was recognized as an unstable and volatile situation, Gillian should have been put in protected custody. I live in San Simeon and this affected me deeply. From the onset, I knew they could not have ended up in the water accidentally from where the SUV was parked. No possible way. How tragic. I cannot judge Marcia Harrington, I cannot comprehend the mental and emotional disturbance that could ever lead to such an act. Impossible to fathom. So tragic...and the questions remain. I live in San Simeon. There is no way down to the beach where they were found. I cannot understand how they ended up in the water from that pullout. We cannot tolerate this. The governor has targeted some of our greatest jewels. In my estimation, Limekiln, Hearst Memorial State Beach (locally known as San Simeon Cove) and Montana de Oro State Park are our most beautiful and pristine. All are under his ax, along with San Simeon State Park and Estero Bluffs. Historic Condor Chick Missing

2007 was an important year for the California Condors of Big Sur. The lead ban finally went through, and wild condors were born in our canyons. We cannot become complacent, there are less than 300 condors alive today, only about 60 fly free. It is somewhat ironic that Centennia's death was natural, another member of an endangered species maintaining its survival. Also, I do apologize. The job you do is appreciated. I decided to co-edit because I saw stories that relate to local environmental issues not being posted. I actually emailed Topix asking why they let items relating to conservation issues slip by, yet they posted the Police Beat on news. They responded that often a page has multiple editors and invited me to do so. Often, these items do not say "Big Sur" in the copy. Big Sur is an area as well as a town. I'm not antagonistic..just wonder how you know what is relevant here. On the North Coast, there is little media coverage of a lot of important things, usually have to go outside to see what's going on. This has very little to do with my website, I just drop by here a lot to see what's going on and occasionally see things you've missed. My website usually deals with things I have personal knowledge of. I post local info that the media doesn't cover. This forum does not generate my traffic, I have local friend sites that do more. No complaint with you. I'm sure you are a sincere person, but it amuses me when you welcome people like you are the host of Big Sur. Very gracious, but somewhat amusing. I think he was a very wonderful, caring person. However, I live in California, where every crime on the local news is committed by Jose or Pedro. They pollute our National Forests with marijuana fields and meth labs, they take every entry level job, They have ten million kids per household, they blare their stupid-ass music constantly and throw their garbage everywhere. A great percentage of undeveloped land west of Highway one between Carmel and Cayucos is now preserved from development thanks to the ongoing efforts of concerned groups and individuals. As a resident of San Simeon, I was aware of the process that led to the Hearst Ranch Conservation Areas becoming Public Land. Believe me, locals worked hard hand-in-hand with the Hearst Corporation. The Fiscalini Ranch, Harmony; more and more coastal land is being saved. The Big Sur Land Trust is constantly acquiring more public land. These are local people, who invest their time and money to preserve what you say you hold so dear. Locals clean the rivers and maintain the trails.  (Nov 13, 2007 | post #3)
