Walgreens near bankruptcy!

I received a phone call from my exa and was told that all walgreens managers had to have a meeting with their DM's and bring their 3 weeks worth of posted schedules because all hours had to be cut! I am currently on disability and was informed that walgreens wants to cut all 40 hr. employees to 32 hours (still full time) because the company is in bad a financial state! This takes effect immediately and Pharmacy hours will be cut in January. In all my 19 yrs at Walgreens did i ever think this would happen,we all knew something was coming because of all the "incentives their giving",$5.00 off a $20.00 purchase,$10.00 off a $40.00 purchase, free ink jet refills, giving employess 20% off any walgreens products. this is alarming because people need their jobs,we all have families, bills etc...I think it's time for all the VP's to take a pay cut. They want an ass't to work camera for 2 days to cut hours, now an ass't makes more than that worker so how are they saving? I think Rein needs to make a video or go to Walgreens websight and inform all employess of the bankruptcy, instead of keeping it secret.  (Aug 30, 2008 | post #1)

SIMS Pay

Maria, Loss prevention know about it,he's seen me doing it so it doesn't make a difference. They know they have us over a barrel,we need our jobs and at my age even though i'm not that old it hard to find work plus having the nerve damage to my hands thanks to working at Walgreens for 18 years no one will touch me. I'm still waiting for Walgreens to pay me workmans comp since last Sept. They claim that carpal tunnel is not caused by the work we do at Walgreens, can you believe it!!!!!Pay the bills, resets, revis ions, orderin our list goes on and on, but no money for being the managers right hand man, more important that an EXA who gets a yearly bonus!  (Aug 21, 2007 | post #9)

SIMS Pay

You do payroll and cash reports?! I bet if your DM or Loss Prevention found about that they would put a stop to it. I'm sure you are well qualified etc but they seem to like to have power over what managers assign us to do. I would be happy making inbetween what we are paid and what an assistant manager is being paid. They keep telling me that the SIMS Coor. is the 2nd most important job in the store under the store manager. Where is the pay? Like you said Debbie "tired of working for peanuts".[/ Maria, Loss prevention know about it,he's seen me doing it so it doesn't make a difference. Walgreens loses $25.8M in Florida lawsuit

I totally agree with you. But until people start complaining and boycotting nothing will be done.  (Aug 19, 2007 | post #12)

Walgreens loses $25.8M in Florida lawsuit

I am an employee at walgreens and yes mistakes do happen! The technician shouldn't be put at blame, the Pharmasist put alot on their shoulders and it is their job to check and double check their prescriptions. I have gotten the wrong medicine many times. I even got someone else's meds. Sonetimes when they get a new manufactorer and the meds look a little different they are suppose to put a label on the bottle stating so and also infor the patient about the change. But that doesn't always happen. They are in a hurry to get the prescriptions filled because corp gives them a time limit that they should follow, though corp will say no they do! They will want to know why a customer has to wait to long, why wasn't flavoring offered and so on. They want the business of the consumer but just make sure you work fast!  (Aug 19, 2007 | post #10)

SIMS Pay

It is not that easy for a 46 yr. old woman who now has nerve damage in her hands from working at this job for 18 yrs and cannot lift anything over 10lbs,no pushing or pulling etc...I cannot see taking advantage of the state and applying for welfare when there are other people especially seniors who need it. Why can't they just pay a decent wage for workiers who are dedicated/?  (Aug 19, 2007 | post #6)

Ready to pay more to smoke?

It is a damn shame. At our store it is the non-smokers who are constantly calling in! We are at least paying for our insurance and prescriptions and not screwing the gov. by getting it for free. I see Walgreens employees getting free insurance and prescriptions from the State claiming that Walgreens doesn't pay enough. Gee something is really wrong here!  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #6)

Walgreens

SIMS Pay

I've been with the company for 18 years. Been head cosmetician,PA and Sims Coordinator forever. Our pay really stinks! There is no such thing as having a job description. I do payroll, cash report, pulled in the warehouse trucks for years... and just about everything else as i'm sure you know. I had to have carpal tunnel surgery on both hands, have extensive nerve damage and Walgreens refuses to pay, says that our job will not cause us to get Carpal Tunnel! This company is a trip and everyone should know what we have to go through.  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #4)

Walgreens won't pay for carpal tunnel injury

I am a loyal Walgreens employee for 18 years and had carpal tunnel surgery on both of my hands, Due to all the constant warehouse work, stock, resets, reports, price changes, i had severe nerve damage and now cannot lift over 10 lbs,not suppose to push or pull but good ole Walgreens claims that they are not at fault and refuse to pay me Comp. Gee if i have done this work for 18 years where did i get nerve damage from? I need to know if anyone else has any problems with walgreens paying for their injuries.  (Aug 15, 2007 | post #1)
