I am writing today because of a huge injustice that has been served upon my community, a community that I love, and one of the anchoring businesses of this community, Creston. Every year this village celebrates Booster Days, a great draw of people from all around the area. It is fun for the kids and adults as well. One of the major events is the Headon’s BBQ pork chop dinners. It attracts everyone from all around, because quite frankly no one cooks them as well as Lance and Lyle. Unfortunately this year we had terrible weather, and the festivities got rained out and postponed to September 28th, so all of their hard work went to waste. Although they were able to sell off their excess product, they were left hoping for another great turnout on September 28th. They received a call later on from the Booster Club, explaining that Headon’s was not invited to cook on the postponement date. They were told that were only going to be selling the food from the kitchen and that they didn’t want to take away from their sales for the one day festival. Year after year, Headon’s has been here for this community and give so much back. I think that it was very wrong and not in the best interest of this community to not invite them back. It seems as if everything revolves around money, and making the most of it, and not caring about what the community wants, and that is Headon’s BBQ pork chops. (Sep 30, 2008 | post #1)
Your right, this did get off topic. All I ask is that the village residents get all the facts (good and bad) before they decide who to vote for (Sep 18, 2008 | post #42)
I have a copy of that website when they listed their names as the owners of that website. I would love to send you a copy. They have since removed all of the false things off of their website, as well as their names. Almost daily they reword the articles that are posted, and they only allow comments that support their cause to be shown on there. They also since this post filled in the empty spot that they lost from Swedish American. Your right, it is politics, but don't go telling me that they are the most honest people you know, Mr. Diehl maybe, but not Mr. Talbot. As far as the parties go, your right, they shouldn't have to deal with it, but call the cops, not bash the mayor online (Sep 18, 2008 | post #39)
It was scheduled before school started, and IDOT pushed it back, no ones fault but our state government. Get the facts, then speak out (Sep 18, 2008 | post #37)
Ever thought about getting on the board to help make it happen. If this community wants things to change, help to make it happen, run for the board, attend meetings, get the facts (Sep 18, 2008 | post #36)
Once you get the facts, not half truths, you will see that Mayor Hawley is doing a great job. You owe it to your community to hear everyone out (Sep 18, 2008 | post #35)
