Fanatastic to hear from you and such a wonderful report from one who also left but kept Indy near to the heart. When you are out and about please give everyone my love and tell them that the rumors of my death were greatly exagerated. You need to come visit sometime! A road trip to Edmond Oklahoma. Its funny to hear everyone talking about Wally world putting all the mom and pop stores out of business now. I was campaigning against the Indy WalMart when I still lived there for just that reason and people looked at me like I was insane... well they knew I am insane but they looked at me funny anyway. Truth is, law enforcement is never quite sure what they will be up against in this type of situation. Better safe than sorry. I don't think people appreciate law enforcement enough. How many times a day does each of us put our lives on the line for others? (Jun 11, 2009 | post #5)
There is a new chain starting in Oklahoma called "Crest". The home office is in Edmond, Oklahoma. It is the best grocery store I have ever shopped in. If they ever open a unit close to Indy give them a try. Service is second to none and it is the only place we will buy meat now. No, I am not a stock holder! lol (Jun 11, 2009 | post #12)

Another City Supports Heartland Flyer
I agree, you could do major metros with high speed monorail but I was thinking more to establish the foundations on a local basis before linking them. That would make a logical phase two for this type of project. (Jun 8, 2009 | post #16)
Ants and Uncles for that matter.... what a memory you have! (Jun 7, 2009 | post #28)
Very very true, its called small town charm. Its one of the things my dad commented on over and over. He used to say walking down the street in Indy was like being in a parade. Everyone waved and said hello and stopped to talk. Do not let this aspect slide into history. You folks involved in this conversation are now charged with continuing small town charge. lol Just kidding but it is really important. (Jun 7, 2009 | post #27)
Very interesting comments here. I can see a mix of fact and emotion. I moved to Independence in 78 to continue my education after High School. I came from money but never used one thin dime. I worked two jobs most of the 22 years I lived in Indy. I lived within my means in that small two bedroom house on Laurel Street and didn't complain about my social position because it was a direct result of decisions I made thru my life. I have now in later life gone back to school and earned the next degree and applied it to my career. I chose to make the changes to match my goals. I didn't depend on anyone and I am better off for having done it that way. The way I look at it we are all blessed the same, not some more than others. It is the decisions we make and the goals we set that actually drive our lives. Just food for thought. (Jun 6, 2009 | post #13)
