Efforts to Exonerate Man Whose Accuser Admitted to Lying ...

I agree at the very least she should have community service. If she were to be punished too harshly other people would not come forward. Blessings to the young man and I hope everything works out well for him. He certainly deserves it.  (Dec 31, 2012 | post #9)

I don't see anyone asking for you to feel sorry!!!! There's something fun about shopping the day before Christmas. I save something every year just so I can have the experience! I hope your holiday was pleasant.  (Dec 26, 2012 | post #5)

Gas Prices Continue to Decline - NBC29 WVIR Charlottesvil...

Gas is down in Greene, but still substantially less expensive in C'ville. Guess I will stop in Charlottesville for gas, although I typically buy gas in Greene County. It's hard to spend your green in Greene with 19 cents or more price per gallon difference!  (Dec 9, 2012 | post #27)

I've met the magician several times and I've taken my children to his shows. His performances were well worth the admission price. Thank you for giving back to the community!  (Dec 9, 2012 | post #2)

Maybe it isn't, but it does bring extra cash flow to small businesses that may be in need of some help, especially at this time of year when people are internet shopping so much.  (Dec 9, 2012 | post #5)

Why can't we just celebrate Fluvanna's accomplishments? And by the way, I could be wrong, but I don't think GED programs CAN be included, but even if they could, have you seen the GED test lately? It's not an easy pass.  (Dec 3, 2012 | post #2)

I agree. I'm in the school system and I decided a LONG time ago that young children can not help nor change their caregivers decisions. I vote for feeding the children.  (Nov 8, 2012 | post #11)

No Easy Choice: Fluvanna School Board Considers Budget Op...

I teach, and I knew when I entered the profession that my pay would be lower than the amount of education I was paying for warranted. I accept that and do not complain when I don't get raises. It is difficult, however, to look at a paycheck that continues to decline each year while my mortage stays the same and my electric bill rises. With that said, I did not realize the amount of trash I would have to listen to in order to stay in the profession I love so dearly. I don't see you asking doctors to take a pay decrease at the same time their malpractice insurance, or their rent, is rising. That is what you're asking Fluvanna teachers to do. I'm surprised Fluvanna still has teachers! I'm certainly not applying there any time in the future!!! I don't know who is right or wrong with the high school issue-I just know it can't be taken back and has to be handled with current tax reveues. Furloughs punish more than just teachers. When you ask a teacher to take a furlough it means that everyone usually takes one in that building, including cafeteria staff and any assistant. Percentage wise, these employees are losing out even more!!! It would be interesting to check on central office staff, though. I'm not sure who runs the school when the furloughs are handed down. Remember, for MOST of us, it is a teacher who taught us to read, write, and work math problems. Teaching is a profession that is difficult to do without. I would hesitate to see the state of Virginia if the average parent were forced to teach their children what is required today. Most do not WANT to, because it's a very detail driven profession with so much to know in advance. It is difficult to encourage my daughter to enter the teaching profession under this type of stress. If others feel like this, there is going to be a teaching shortage in the near future. Lowering salaries will not correct that.  (Nov 4, 2012 | post #41)
