Cops: L.I. Woman Tried To Run Over Police Officers

No, I don't think the cops can be everywhere at once. I don't want them to be. The point is that, in my experience, more often than not the police are overly aggressive revenue generators who serve only the purposes of the state at the expense of the people. We don't really need them, since they can't stop most crimes from happening what's the point of having them? Especially here in Nassau making over $100K per year for giving out seatbelt tickets on the exit ramp of the parkway.  (Sep 30, 2010 | post #17)

Cops: L.I. Woman Tried To Run Over Police Officers

I don't want anything and I'm not crying. The poster above me said we should call the police to "save us" while being held up. Well, I've actually had that experience and know for a fact that police cannot "save" you. They do not care, and I find that most people that defend police have never actually needed their help to find out they don't and can't help. They are good for generating revenue for the county through traffic tickets and seatbelt checkpoints, but beyond that they are pretty useless.  (Sep 29, 2010 | post #10)

Hmm, I have been held up. The police didn't help, and didn't even pretend to care. The police simply clean up the mess after the fact.  (Sep 29, 2010 | post #8)

Man arrested after firing AK47 rifle to defend home from ...

Since almost all AK-47s in the US are semi-automatic, and since it's near impossible for a private citizen to get a permit for a full auto rifle, and since the article mentioned that he did own the gun legally (and converting it to full auto is most definitely illegal), it's a safe bet that it was semi-automatic. The only difference between an "assault " rifle and a "regular " rifle is appearance. They both shoot bullets and they can both kill people, what difference does appearance make? "Assault " rifle is a meaningless buzz word. He did call the police, and on a good day it's takes police at least five minutes to respond, which is plenty of time for something terrible to happen. They threatened to kill his family, which is an act of aggression (placing him clearly in the realm of self defense, they were the aggressors). Firing warning shots, into the ground no less (ensuring that the bullets will not come down from the sky on someone, showing that he was not wildly shooting), is certainly justified when faced with a large group of people verbally threatening to kill your wife and children. Are we to assume they were just kidding? Or should he have waited until they actually hurt a member of his family?  (Sep 28, 2010 | post #5)

10,000,000 points for each cop you run over. 25,000,000 if you get two at once. F the police.  (Sep 28, 2010 | post #4)

First of all, it's not an automatic rifle, it's semi-automatic (which means you must pull the trigger each time you want to fire a single round), they do not have the capability of automatic fire (ie, hold the trigger to fire continuously). I love how self defense opponents know nothing about firearms. AK-47s are legal to own in NY State, and Nassau County specifically, without any type of permit or registration in semi-automatic form, and that is how 99.9% of the AK-47s imported into the US are manufactured, semi-automatic. Second, police offer no protection. They arrive after the fact to clean up the mess.  (Sep 27, 2010 | post #3)

Gun Control - Huntington Station, NY

Gun control means only criminals and cops will have guns, and neither are to be trusted.  (Sep 25, 2010 | post #5)
