McCain set to take center stage tonight

WOW. That was horrible. McCain sounded like he was a communist. Did you see the lukewarm response McCain got when he talked about the failed policies of the current administrations, and how he would fight that? "Wait. What? Hey McCain, slow down there." Clap Clap Clap. "Should we be clapping?"  (Sep 4, 2008 | post #52)

Palin says daughter is pregnant

Anyone know how old Levi (the father) is? As long as he's not 20+ years old, cause that would mean he was sleeping with a 16 year old, probably with the parents knowledge, this shouldn't mean squat.  (Sep 1, 2008 | post #5)

McCain surprises, picks Alaska governor as running mate

I agree Nader didn't really have any chance, and it will probably take a lot for me to vote for a 3rd party presidential candidate in the future. But, i also believe i have a "right" to vote for whomever i want, and beleive your local government is still the most important election. Look at Akron. 8 years of Bush and 6 of Taft, and only now has that really caught up to us. Sure our local leaders failures have to add in there also, but cities like Cleveland, Dayton, Youngstown, Canton, Cincinnati, and Toledo, have done far worse in the past 30 years than Akron.  (Aug 31, 2008 | post #575)

McCain surprises, picks Alaska governor as running mate

I think John McCain could have picked a sock puppet and people would defend the pick and and cheer how great it is. Same thing with Barack Obama. I am voting for Obama, never really liked Biden's mouth (reminded me of McCain's), because his policies, and intentions speak to my, and my family and friends. I think this is the same for 70-80% of the population. They are either voting democrat or republican no matter who is running. By the way, i was one of the people who voted for Nader instead of Gore, and watching him at the DNC, i know i was right in principle. My point is that is important to vote, no matter what. Especially in your local elections, because that is where you live. I dearly hope Barack Obama wins because i think his policies reflect mine a lot more than John McCain's, and i think we need a federal government that is removed by the Reagan/Bush/Bush/Q uayle/Clinton/Gore /Bush/Cheney that we have experienced for the past 30 years. Vote.  (Aug 30, 2008 | post #554)

Cavs pull off big deal to land point guard

Woo-Hoo! Finally a PG! I hope they can still keep Delonte though. He'd be stellar of the bench, and insurance too.  (Aug 13, 2008 | post #131)

Twinsburg development hits snag

Why doesn't the city just buy it from her eminent domain style and resell it to the developer. That's what the city of Akron did behind Fred Martin Chevrolet. Although, now there is nothing to show for it except for a big empty lot where people sell dope and turn tricks.  (Jul 16, 2008 | post #40)

Citizens group files petitions to block sewer sale withou...

This is interesting. So how will you vote? I personally have been more concerned with Summa (they are killing my neighborhood. Seriously, get rid of the groundhogs, they weren,t here before.), Akron U (they are killing my old neighborhood), Howard St. (Northside area), and Rt. 59 ( I still think they should level it and turn it into a flat street like the "mile" stretches in Detroit.  (Jul 10, 2008 | post #2)

New UA stadium off to a suite start

I understand all that Bill. I'm worried more about what all those 17-20 year olds will be consuming. Someone has to make money.  (Jul 9, 2008 | post #51)

Cavaliers welcome newest additions

Why is it so hard to get a point guard on this roster? Philly just got Brand. Why did they get Brand? Because they needed a PF. The Cavs need to do dome moves. Build completely around LeBron. Need a PG? Trade Boobie. I don't care, get a strong team together because the East is wide open, and if the Cavaliers go into the playoffs with a half-wat decent team, and Lebron, they will get beat.  (Jul 9, 2008 | post #85)

New UA stadium off to a suite start

I used to live right next to the odd corner. The house i was living in was later condemned a few years after we moved out. The Odd Corner moved across the street, and survived a murdered employee. McDonald's moved down the street. All the houses they knocked down were crap. I guess Wallaroo, and Wallaby Hall were too, as they didn't survive. I know this won't happen, but hopefully the businesses that replace Splash, Baba's, the Sun, the aquarium shop, Chopstix (though their food is horrible; Don't get the Egg Drop Soup to-go) won't be replaced with Starbuck's, CVS/Wal(Green's/Ma rt), and TGIF type places. Please reach out to Swenson's, Square Records, the Lime Spider(RIP), Pazzzo's(RIP), Greene's BBQ, and other places where people pour their soul into making Akron unique.  (Jul 8, 2008 | post #42)
