It's time for Lane Harrison to step down as Zion's Mayor

You people have such balls of steal, using fake names over the internet! As for "White Power Dave", please know your history if you're going to post about me. I was "All American Dave", and it was a radio bit. Lenny Palmer changed it to White power Dave, then eventually to Dictator Dave. Again, radio bit, and I had no control over my "radio" name, it's radio! Obviously they did something right at WKRS, because after 7 years, you're still talking about it! lol  (May 16, 2013 | post #10)

Zion Elections

MKZ, believe it or not, there are actually people in the world who "volunteer " their time. Not everything's about a paycheck! Red bay, thanks for liking my watchdog page. I appreciate, even people who are against me, receiving the updates I post. Hopefully you'll visit my website, daveforzion.com, and check out the 20+ pages of police reports that your savior caused. Shantal Taylor, involved everywhere in Zion, except City Hall, and as long as there's a camera around! Ask her if she's proposed a single ordinance in her four years, I think you'll find a blank stare. Please, don't vote tomorrow, the citizens of Zion deserve better!  (Apr 8, 2013 | post #22)

New crime in my area

Nuisance Abatement, something Zion's given up on, but could change the amount of crime we deal with, IF they would find money to run the program. David Ratliff The REAL Watchdog www.facebook.com/z ionwatchdog  (Aug 15, 2012 | post #32)

Should zion have a TIF GRANT Program?

Thank you Mr. Fischer, interesting article for those who do not completely understand how TIF's work. However, I still believe that ALL taxing bodies need to find other ways to cut spending, rather than worry about TIF monies being stripped from them. TIF can be a very positive thing for the taxpayers, especially when we need all the business tax we can get around here!  (Jul 11, 2012 | post #9)

Should zion have a TIF GRANT Program?

All TIF monies that are approved, are finalized at the City Council meetings, which minutes are available for. The TIF board recommendation is just that, a recommendation. The TIF board has no final say, therefore the Council minutes will tell us all that we need to know. Again, my bigger concern here is the amount of people that think the other taxing bodies would utilize the money to their advantage if there were no TIF districts. We see how well the schools utilize funds, do we really want to see more go to them, rather than helping the business' of the community advance for a long term tax investment?! Should zion have a TIF GRANT Program?

JME, All meeting minutes are posted online, at the City website. Twelve years worth, right at your finger tips! http://www.cityofz ion.com/department s/city_clerk/minut es.html Unspent TIF monies are distributed back to the taxing bodies from which they came.... schools, library, etc., so I'm curious, how does having TIF districts hurt the taxpayer?  (Jul 6, 2012 | post #5)

Zion Action Committee forming "ZAC"

Again, coffee anytime you'd like to hear the truth! You just have to be willing to open your thoughts past party politics, or color of skin. You can even bring your sleeping bears. Dave Ratliff Sorry for getting off track in your thread Patrick. I'll be returning to the Shantal needs to go thread if you'd like to continue this Redbay.  (May 8, 2012 | post #23)

Zion Action Committee forming "ZAC"

Redbay, I run the "Shantal Resign Group"! I am not affiliated with ZAC, however I do attend meetings, as it never hurts to be more informed. They are a group who care about the community as a whole, not just one issue nor one person. Maybe if you'd be "more informed" with regards to Ms. Taylor, you'd think twice before accusing anyone of jealousy or racism! You don't know me, you don't know my back ground, and by stating things that you have no clue about, only proves that you're a typical, uninformed voter, that hasn't a clue how Government even works. Anytime you'd like to meet for coffee, I'll even buy. David Ratliff www.daveforzion.co m www.facebook.com/z ionwatchdog  (May 7, 2012 | post #19)

Shantal Taylor Needs to GO

I'm not sure what you find so interesting about that story. Rick Delisle needing to be involved? Well he is the realtor for said property, why wouldn't he need to be involved? Again, I've pointed out facts of a single Commissioner, but you'd much prefer to ignore those facts, and worry about rumor. Research things before posting negative!  (Apr 27, 2012 | post #31)

Shantal Taylor Needs to GO

zionneedshelp, If you know anything about my history the last seven years in the City of Zion, you know I don't care who or what elected official I offend. You make a few valid points above, however, not everything is public knowledge at this point on some of those issues. How are we as citizens going to place blame regarding the ballfield, when the courts won't make their decision for two plus years? I prefer to have facts before I try and take someone head on. I assure you that if facts show corruption, or wrongdoing, I'll be the first to trash any elected official. The only facts we have at this point, regarding anything you or I have stated, is that Shantal Taylor is a problem! If you currently support Commissioner S. Taylor, I simply ask that you discuss with ANY City employee.... you'll figure out who the woman behind the curtain really is!  (Apr 26, 2012 | post #27)

Shantal Taylor Needs to GO

Wow, the clueless people sticking up for Shantal really sickens me! Do you people realize what a crook she is? Caught on video throwing stolen political signs in the trash. Owed property taxes, therefore ran for office illegally. She cost the city thousands of dollars with the old City seal fiasco. She got the building dept. director fired, hired someone unqualified, who approved things that were out of code, some costing the City money. Concrete poured over Gas lines, electric lines, too close to property lines, etc. All fixed at taxpayer expense! She ignored our City sticker requirements, then fought the ticket received! She got out of a speeding ticket and had an officer yelled at due to her flying down 21st Street and getting pulled over and ticketed. (Do you know who I am?) LOL, yes Shantal, EVERYONE knows who you are! Most likely why you still received the ticket! She forced the building department to get their union involved, as she was so rude, crude, and clueless! She cost the City thousands in fines. She forced the building department to waive, due to the people "needing help, not fines." Fix your property, you won't get fined! She has collected a paycheck, but does not even handle a department! She has not once, NOT ONCE, brought a new ordinance to the table, she's not accomplished anything but the Dome restoration, or so she says. Actually, the Mayor secured the money for that project! Now let's talk about the person, not the position. Now going through her second bankruptcy. Suspended twice from her position at the Sheriff's office for incompetence. Need I go on, really?! What has she done for the Zion community? Please, someone offer even one thing that she has done "for the people"! This community could be so wonderful if not for people like her tearing it down. We need active people in office that will push for clean neighborhoods, not say the police are too tough, or waive those fines, etc. Shantal Taylor has cost this community more than she will ever bring here. April elections need to be well researched, and hopefully the voting public will pay close attention to the truth, and not all the rumors you read in the sun times!
