Steven Haguewood vs THE WORD of KNOWLEDGE

Excuse me. Grace is not missing from the church of Christ. We however do not use grace as a permission slip to sin. Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? KJV  (May 18, 2014 | post #301)

The scriptures were written to others for us to make the right applications from. We obey those things which apply to us. Obviously h the handling deadly snakes is unwise. But the fact that some things do not apply today certainly does not excuse us from obedience altogether. John 3:36 36 He that believeth on the Son hath eternal life; but he that obeyeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. ASV 1 John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. KJV 1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. KJV  (May 16, 2014 | post #270)

Why not just read the scriptures myself.  (May 16, 2014 | post #269)

2 Timothy 2:15-16 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. KJV Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Verse 20 of 1 Peter 3 says 8 souls were saved by water. Verse 2 says in like fashion baptism does also now save us. Noah and family were saved from the sins of the earth when the flood waters washed sinful men away. Similarly when one is immersed in water today, his sins are washed away. the metaphor is the washing away of sin. Verse 21 says "Baptism doth also now save us" That cannot be denied. Any rationalization you do to that scripture which means that baptism does not save is a contradiction of what Peter said. Period. And by the way, you like to call other people idiots? Is that how an ambassador for Christ operates? Matthew 5:22 but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. KJV  (May 16, 2014 | post #262)

ulfill I realize that. But that does not mean we have no role to fulfill. Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. KJV  (May 16, 2014 | post #261)

We do not contact the literal blood of Christ in baptism. It is however the point at which one is "In Christ" Galatians 3:27, Romans 6:3-6. And it is the point at which one receives the initial forgiveness of sin.. Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, Colossians 2:13, Romans 6:7 Baptism is absolutely necessary if one wishes to be in the kingdom of God: John 3:3-5 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. KJV Being born again of water can be nothing but baptism/immersion.  (May 15, 2014 | post #244)

Jesus most certainly did not give authority to men on earth to forgive sins. That's ridiculous. You are referring to Matthew 16:19 which you are completely misunderstanding. "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." What Peter and the other apostles bound on earth had already been bound in heaven and they were under that authority. If Peter was able to bind on earth then why did he stand condemned after the Jerusalem council for dissimulation? Galatians 2:11-13  (May 13, 2014 | post #239)

I have yet to see you quote a single verse of scripture. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. KJV  (May 11, 2014 | post #219)

1 Timothy 6:3-5 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. I do assemble on the Lord's day for worship with other Christians. I am not catholic, nor am I baptist, methodist, lutheran or any other denomination. I am just a Christian. And I am a member of the body of Christ. I have heard and believed the gospel (Mark 1:15). I have confessed and I continue to confess the name of Christ as the Son of God (Romans 10:10). I have repented of my former lifestyle and I serve Christ (Luke 13:3-5). And I am living faithfully and I intend to continue this as long as I live Rev 2:10.  (May 8, 2014 | post #206)

And Mike. For the record, you have referred to me as a protestant. I am not. I am a Christian. Just about all protestants believe in salvation by faith alone. That is a false doctrine too: James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. I am not a protestant. I am a just a Christian. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
