Court to decide bike-path land case
Of course if Grossich wins, it will open the door for folks to expand their homes onto their neigbors properties and claim it as their own, since they paid for the building materials ! (Jun 20, 2008 | post #3)
Stater Bros. won't leave Colton hurting
I have friends who work there ,and for the most part, still do at the new location, which they say is big and foreboding(they'll get used to it,I'm sure). Like Mr. Brown there cars want to drive to the Colton site in the mornings,though:-) (Jun 19, 2008 | post #2)
Moss Bros. Ford shutting in Colton
Last month I issued a challenge to Colton First: to spearhead a grassroots effort to force oil companys to lower prices (recall the oil execs!). I even offered to help out. They have yet to issue a reply .I guess they feel gas prices have nothing to do with the bike path. However,it does: if gas were cheaper, fewer folks would have been interested in a bike path to downtown San Berdoo since they would be driving there cars and not there bicycles to work. This fact will be a great tactical argument for the City in court! As more and more Colton residents who work in Berdoo (like myself) are forced to use alternative modes of transportation due to rising gas costs, the bike path becomes more and more justified. There isn't a jury in this country who has not been directly affected by gas prices! Conversly, if Colton First were to lead a sucessfull reduction of fuel costs,if and when the City Attorney brings it up Grossich' defense team can say"Objection .Your Honor, the energy crisis has been resolved.Commuter costs no longer has any bearing to this case." He was being polite by not spelling out the cuss words(fill in the blanks). It's called RESPECT. Personally I would rather decifer a hundered sentences like these than read one sentence from a bigot( don't take offense:I am not reffering to you) (Jun 18, 2008 | post #18)

No disrespect, but attitudes like yours are part of the problem.Stop greiving for your uncle ! The teacher who founded the program I worked for had not one but two sons killed in a drive-by. Where his sons involved in gangs ? He din't know, but the cops said they were.He found out the shooter was a son of an acquaintance. His insticnts told him to seek revenge-his logical side told him to pay someone else to do it-his spiritual side said to become part of the solution, which he did with his music program, which, thro ugh focusing on hip-hop production, was designed specifically to attract inner city youths.Right after the program was canceled, two students informed me they had signed up for the millitary ,3 where planning on coninuting there academic studies in hopes of eventually going to Cal State .All of them grew up ,for the most part, without fathers and gravitated to gang life for some simbilance of family-collective security. You spoke of "wasting tax payer's dollars". Do you know how much tax payer dollars go toward feeding and housing an inmate in the corrections system? With programs such as arts and sports, only an initial outlay is needed for equipment-then monthly utilities/rent for space. Considerably quite lower than jails.Do you know how much it costs to put a criminal to death? Considerably more than either, which is why our death rows are backed up (not to mention legal costs thru appeals, etc).Let's not forget law enforcement costs (special gang units, the need for more officers/patrols,e tc).I am wasting my time speaking to you ."Colton " is right, you have no heart.I am however speaking to those who want to see a possitive solution .By saying "kill them" you are no better than they are. oh,before any nay sayers think the above example of a music program can't work in a Latino community it can and will. Cyrpess Hill,Los Lobos, etc. are fine examples of youths from the Barrio whose lives were saved thru music (Jun 17, 2008 | post #12)

I think he means the first guy is not offering any constructive solutions-threats of jail and the death sentence have been used for years and years and years and aren't solving the problem.Saying "lock em up/kill them" is easy when it's not one of his own kid-ie: he "has no heart" In the early '90's I used to work,as assistant teacher for a recording arts program at SBVC.When it got out we were making hip-hop, several gang members signed up for school to be a part of it.I have seen first hand the difference in these young men when they were given the tools and opportunity to make something of themselves (look where music has taken guys like Snoop,Dre,Ice t,etc.). I would have both Bloods AND Crips in the same room at the same time. They would come in staring each other down but, once the mic started being passed around, all the barriers broke down and they would leave on friendly terms (of course, the truce had been signed the previous year)but still, any animousity was dished out in rhyme, and the most talented would get props because they earned them through their skills, regardless of there turf . Sadly, as is most often is the case, the older white faculty members felt somehow threatened but large groups of working class youths in one place ,complained, and the program was cancelled. I bet if Art from Fontana was there,he would have been the top complainer. (Jun 17, 2008 | post #11)
Rialto gang member killed in doorway
They need to go back to doing what they did in the 60's..Prior to Vietnam, this country was facing a severe problem with juvenile dellinquency. Along came 'Nam and most hoodlums were drafted or given the choice of military service or jail. Most chose the former.Unfortunatl y, our culture glamorizes prison life ;gangs of course are controlled from "shot callers" on death row who don't care who gets killed on the outside because for them it's about surving on the inside, where power is survival .Do not get me started on the corelation between California having one of the country's only segregated penal system and also the highest gang violence. Once again, back to the sixties, when one of the most powerful gangs was formed to protect Hispanics from racist white inmates .... Anyway,to solve the gang problem do not give gangsters a choice-just give 'em a gun,a canteen and a helmet and ship 'em off to Iraq.If there under 16, boot-camp until they're of age , then off to the Middle East with them. Arts and music programs that target at risk youth have worked wonders in places like Detroit , New York and London, just to name a few. Until there are major reforms not only to the penal system but also the laws which place our nations' working class youth within that system, ostensibly to provide multimillion dollar corporations with cheap labor ,instead of placing them into millitary service or providing alternatives to gang life we will only see a rise in gang violence (Jun 16, 2008 | post #13)

outonbail" must be another member of Colton First. To them everyone's either a cop or a "blind citizen" who fails to see Brother Gary as the second coming. Trust me , if I were a cop I would have tracked down "victum" through his IP adress,"kicke d down " his door, planted some dope and tazered him for a few laughs then justified it by saying I felt "threatened ".Which is why I'm obviously not cop material.I'm counseled by the fact, at least, judging by how civilized he acts here, his next run in with the police may end up w. him "behaving in a threatening manner".
