Gay Marriage - Austin, TX

I agree - love IS a human right. Just like free speech. But free speech rights aren't absolute - you can't yell "fire" in a crowded theater or incite a riot, for example. It's the same with love. You can love whoever you want....but love and the societal definition of marriage are two different things. The legal definition of marriage has nothing to do with love.  (Mar 4, 2012 | post #240)

But Flowers was asked by the police directly if Patti had EVER been in his truck and he said NO. So why is he lying to the police about her being in the back of his truck when the cat hairs PROVE she was there? Because he KILLED her, that's why.  (Feb 29, 2012 | post #1016)

Love DOES discriminate under the eyes of law as well as in our societal norms and traditions. You can't marry your own brother or sister no matter how much you love them. You can't marry more than one person, even if all parties agree. You can't engage in bigamy or polygamy. Sorry, but it is what it is.  (Feb 28, 2012 | post #236)

Gay Marriage - Austin, TX

It seems odd to me that gays think they can redefine societal institutions and traditions simply because they want to...for as long as anyone can remember, marriage in our society has been defined as being between one man and one woman. If you want to have a ceremony commemorating the fact that you are committing to live forever with someone who is of the same sex as you - fine - but it's not marriage. To me the idea of referring to a same-sex couple as "married " simply because that's what they want makes as much sense as referring to a woman as a man, just because that's what she wants. Sorry, but words mean things - if you're a woman, there's nothing you can do short of a sex change operation that will result in your being referred to as a man. If you're a gay couple, nothing you can do short of one of you getting a sex change operation is going to result in you being married.  (Feb 28, 2012 | post #235)

Immigrant Amnesty - Austin, TX

Anastacia, in just this one sentence you confirm for many Americans why they so vociferously oppose illegal immigration....fir st, illegal immigrants ARE, in fact, doing jobs Americans want to do. I can tell you from firsthand knowledge that many illegal immigrants are working good-paying construction jobs - since when do Americans not want to work construction jobs? They do want those jobs, and they have to compete with illegals for them. And while on this topic - before Mexicans decided to routinely and regularly violate our laws and come here illegally, who do you think worked the jobs Mexicans work now? Americans did, that's who. Only, Americans weren't willing to work those crappy jobs for next to NOTHING - Mexicans are, which artificially depresses the wages employers are willing to offer. You think restaurants aren't going to hire dishwashers if there were no illegals? Of course they would - they'd just have to pay the dishwashers a DECENT WAGE. Secondly, you're here (or at least your family is) illegally and you've got the nerve to call us "Lazy Americans"??? Wow. I mean, WOW. Talk about utter and complete ARROGANCE. Keep talking that smack...you're winning the immigration debate for our side without even realizing it.  (Feb 28, 2012 | post #26)

No amnesty for law-breakers. Stand in line like everyone else.  (Feb 28, 2012 | post #25)

Having just watched this episode of 'Disappeared' on the ID channel for the first time, I kept waiting for an explanation from the suspect (Flowers?) as to WHY he had cat hair from Patti's cats under his tonneau....did he ever say? As I understand it, animal DNA is as unique as human DNA - what POSSIBLE explanation could there be for having the cat hairs of a missing person you claim has never been in your vehicle to show up on your newly-purchased tonneau cover? The cat hairs, coupled with the obvious motive to shut her up about the $90K she loaned him certainly seems to me MORE than sufficient to bring to a Grand Jury. WHY is this man still free? What am I missing?  (Feb 28, 2012 | post #1004)

Spotlight back on Patricia Adkins case

I just saw this episode for the first time today, and here's a glaring question that I don't think was answered in the show - what was the married man's explanation for the cat hair UNDER the tonneau? If the DNA test on the hair proved it came from one of Patti's cats, then as far as I'm concerned either explain it or he should be in jail for murder. What other explanation could there POSSIBLY be for cat hair from Patti's cat being there? I'm gob-smacked that the Police didn't arrest the guy as soon as they had the results of the cat hair test. I've seen murder convictions on LESS circumstantial evidence than this.  (Feb 28, 2012 | post #112)
