Niagara Falls: Dyster introducing city engineer

This must be a big surprise (revelation) for some people to find we actually do have qualified personnel in Western New York.  (Jan 1, 2010 | post #1)

Human Geography: Niagara Falls N.Y

The story is mostly nonfactual garbage. Why do you post it here? If the Seneca Casino ruined Niagara Falls business, why is Niagara Falls, ON thriving? Where did the author get the 20 million tourists from?  (Dec 9, 2009 | post #1)

City Fixer: From Glasgow to Niagara Falls

After 50 years of mistake after mistake we may have an answer. Where have you been all my adult life Mr. Friel? Although I do not know Eddie Friel, the article touched on some points that I have been trying to bring to light for the last year: “From there the formula was simple he said, because tourism increased the tax base which allowed the government to fortify the city’s infrastructure and help draw businesses to the area.’ “Rebuild the center city. Give the city back its heart. He explained. Then build outward.” What did you think he meant by the “outward appearance of the convention Center” and, “stop the internal battles”? Do you think he meant the Convention Center is kind of empty looking and the internal battles are the ones between the city and county or the north towns? Do you think he realizes, when you grow the city of Niagara Falls, you grow the entire area. Finally, I really love the picture. What do you think those two people on the right are discussing? “What’s behind this glass? Looks empty to me. Hey is anyone doing anything in there?” Or, are they just a couple from TeleTech on their break.  (Nov 21, 2009 | post #1)

Schumer promises to get something cooking during visit to...

While I still do not agree with its location, the Culinary Institute is the best thing to happen downtown except the demise of the Wintergarden. Mr. Milstein and his group of speculators are not going to do anything downtown until we make it profitable for him to do so. These carpetbaggers bought up what the thought would be valuable real estate with the premise a casino would spur development. They were wrong. Developments like the removal of the wintergarden and the culinary institute, will spur more investment in the downtown area. Then and only then will Mr. Milstein make a move.  (Nov 19, 2009 | post #1)

Niagara Falls: City offers $650K for Inn on the River pro...

Sorry folks. I was thinking of the Fallside Hotel which was supposedly part of this deal. Although the Inn on the River was once a great place to socialize and a good investment, it is not near the falls.  (Nov 10, 2009 | post #2)

Niagara Falls: City offers $650K for Inn on the River pro...

This is an example of money well spent. Especially after we remove the embankments in front. One of the few places in the city where guests can leave their rooms and walk the river to the park.  (Nov 10, 2009 | post #1)

Niagara Falls: Babanoury leaving library?

I do not know what Ms. Babanboury problems are, but the library is a public facility vital to our community and it needs to be fully funded. Having the air condition inoperable for most of two summers is unacceptable. Failure to provide upkeep for this facility is a failure of civic responsibility equal to the underfunding any learning institution and we as a community should not accept it.  (Nov 10, 2009 | post #1)

Paladino rallies the Patriots

Another group of sore losers who can not live with the situation left by prior administrations calling themselves Patriots out to change the will of people in the last election by claiming we have lost our country.  (Oct 28, 2009 | post #1)

Niagara Falls: New equipment making its mark on city streets

It is hard to favor the city's paving program when far too many streets are refinished unnecessary while others are left to further deteriorate. What and where are the priorities????  (Sep 30, 2009 | post #1)

Niagara Falls: 'Landmark' airport terminal dedicated

It is hardly a winning situation. That airport with its huge runway has been around forever. It doesn't matter, if their are no customers for those international flights. How many 757s do we think we can get to fly out of the airport to reach the half a million passengers needed to break even. Do we think the carriers are going to bypass New York or Toronto to come to the falls.  (Sep 6, 2009 | post #1)

Moving to NF

Aah, New Brunswick where the median family income is $44,269 and the median home is $283,437. Nice place to live if you can afford it. Thats 6.4 times the median income for a home. It's not where you live. Its what make of it. I don't go on topix to see how I can run down someones suroundings. I spend most of my time trying to make what I have better.  (Sep 3, 2009 | post #9)

Moving to NF

As quoted on city-data.com, the 2007 Median home cost in Niagara Falls was 70,222,in Williamsville 128,508 and Pendleton was 150,627. Like I said, if you can afford it why not. Most people cannot afford to live where they would like. That does not mean Niagara Falls is a just ghetto filled with untouchables. By the way I am not a landlord. I am a citizen of a city that may have its problems but does not deserve unwarranted comments like yours.  (Sep 2, 2009 | post #7)
