Pay raise planned for IU workers

The union represents a very small percentage of university employees. I am fine with funding the University. I know you may feel that it is a big waste of time to pay for any "book learnin' " but a society that invests in the education of the populace is a much stronger society because of it.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #19)

Pay raise planned for IU workers

Remember what happens when you ASSume, I am neither, but I do take it for granted that I will probably get a raise of at least 3% every year, but then, I do good work for a good company. Yes, it is within the writ of the employer to offer raises based on performance. That is why IU has a 3.5% pool. Some, who deserve it, will get more, some who do not will get less. What is your problem with that again?  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #17)

Do you not get annual salary adjustments in your line of work? 3% just keeps up with the cost of living increases. Stagnation of wages will result in attrition of the best employees and you will be left with the dregs who are not good enough to get better jobs.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #13)

The idea is to have a strong University system with quality programs that draw people from outside the state. Apparently you did not attend one of our establishments of higher learning or you may have been able to deduce that for yourself.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #12)

Sounds like a tryst in the neighbor's garage went awry. What, they couldn't get a room anywhere?  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #7)

Rare mummified dinosaur uncovered

It was Adam's noble steed. He used to take it on rides through the Garden with Eve...Then, it was put on the Ark.  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #39)

Target site passes another checkpoint

Isn't Target a bit upscale for Noblestucky? Perhaps another Wal-Mart or a Tractor Supply would be more appropriate.  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #18)

Maybe it will have human remains in its stomach so the fundamentalist wackos can be vindicated. Pat Robertson is calling for a full autopsy!  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #25)

Americans should start seeing tax rebates in May

For the past 5 years more than 1/3 of all west point Grads have left their service in the Officer corps at the earliest possible date. This is on average, 50% higher attrition than in prior years. It is becoming hard to keep them from leaving. Most cite the prolonged deployments and tour cycles as the primary factors in their decision to leave. This is leaving the Army with less and less qualified "middle managers." Which are essential to maintain operating strength. In a nutshell, our Army is in trouble and we best fix it ASAP.  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #60)

You wake up, it was never about Iraq until the "Decider " made it about Iraq. It is about Iraq now because if we leave there will be a vacuum but it should never have happened in the first place. The fact that we have not been hit again has nothing at all to do with Iraq. This "war" has been mis-managed by W and Co. from day one...but then, he is "The Decider" and God is on our side right.  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #58)

A better solution to what pray tell? The Iraq situation or the tax rebate to stimulate the economy? I just want to make sure we are on the same page. Iraq Iraq has no real good solution right now. It is a mess, it is our mess, we made it so yes, we need to clean it up. We should be looking at ways to scale back our presence there. We need more than the lip service we are getting from W and Co. Our troops are stretched too thin now and multiple extended deployments are making the situation for them unbearable. That is why Army captains are leaving at an alarming rate. Econ I have no beef with the stimulus package. I am willing to see if it works. At least it can pay for my gas for Vacation this year. :)  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #32)

I too am a veteran. Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11 at all. It was W's personal war. I agree that we can't just bail out and abandon the Iraqi people right now. We broke it, we bought it. It was folly to go in there in the first place and it is time now to begin a measured stand down in Iraq. We need to refocus on Afghanistan where the real enemy is gaining strength. Al Quaida in Iraq is not Al Quaida and it did not exist until we went into Iraq and jacked everything up.  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #30)

Please turn off the Limbaugh and put down the Kool Aid. If you really believe that, I have some beach front property to sell you...in Arizona.  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #20)
