Burned boy being flown to Shriners Hospital to receive mo...

You can bet there will be a lawsuit filed, and a settlement will be reached. But that's not the important thing-- this boy has lost his little sister, and he's going to be scarred for life. It breaks my heart.  (Jul 10, 2007 | post #12)

Last surviving member of '50s band The Drifters dies in D...

I don't know-- doesn't seem such a bad way to go to me. He was still performing, his family was there with him (though not when he died), and it was a festive day. He went out with a **** , you might say. I hope it was peaceful, and my sympathy goes to his family.  (Jul 4, 2007 | post #2)

Driver shot by motorist tried blocking speeding Porsche S...

I called FHP while I was on I-4 one afternoon near Ivanhoe because some crazy heifer was driving aggressively and seemed to be FOLLOWING me. The idiot guy who answered the phone BLAMED ME and said I should try to get out of her way. I told him that when I did that, she changed lanes behind me-- about 5 times, and she was on my tail right then and had been flipping me off. I was seriously afraid for my life, and this dispatcher or whoever he was ACTUALLY YELLED AT ME. Luckily, got where I was going safely, no thanks to *FHP.  (Jul 2, 2007 | post #92)

I AGREE 100%. I used to be married to someone who does the kinds of things the guy who was shot was doing. I can't say I'd be surprised to hear HE got shot on the road. It's prolly just a matter of time...  (Jul 2, 2007 | post #91)

TV's 'Antiques Roadshow' identifies treasure in Orlando -...

I guess it's fun to find out that the quilt your great-grandmother made is worth $10,000-- but that would give a decent person nothing more than bragging rights. Who would sell the quilt their great-grandmother made? Come to think of it, decent people don't brag-- so knowing it's worth $10k gets you nowhere.  (Jul 1, 2007 | post #9)

Deputies: Man tried to abduct 5-year-old girl -- OrlandoS...

I do kind of wonder why the woman called the police-- because he exposed himself and tried to abduct her daughter, or because he threw a rock at her and made her mad? Seems like the first, much more serious crime with potentially far-reaching effects were accepted by her as being merely annoying behaviors. She dropped her daughter off at daycare anyway, for goodness sake, and went about her day. But when he taunted her and threw a rock, he made her mad and she called police. She certainly didn't call them because she was afraid; she went back to where the indecent exposure and attempted abduction happened rather than call police. She wasn't afraid. I'm not trying to put blame on a victim; I'm simply saying that it seems like in Crime Hills, residents put up with a lot of bad stuff as "normal. " And that, kiddoes, is what's wrong with this country, despite what young 20 year-old Ms. Jynx thinks.  (Jun 30, 2007 | post #7)
