Man Who Caused Standoff in Fluvanna Facing Five Felony Ch...

OK, I don't know him but I don't buy any of the excuses from the few coming to his defense who say he comes from a good family. Well, where was the good family when he wouldn't come out of the house? Why did the "good" family allow this mental genius to have access to weapons? Apparently from the police report he had prior run ins with the law including drugs. Again, where was this "good" family who should have had him in treatment for alcohol and drugs and never have allowed him access to guns. Is this guy and his "good" family paying child support for his kid? I'll bet the only thing the "good" family does is to buy him a defense lawyer who will try to put the blame on his problematic past, but if he had a "good" family and upbringing, then wouldn't this guy Man-Up and take responsibility? I can see the "good" family now at the trial saying that he was a "good boy" who had made some bad decisions and let's plead this case down since he is such a "good boy."  (Mar 3, 2013 | post #50)

Man Who Caused Standoff in Fluvanna Facing Five Felony Ch...

A real prize here. I heard that he whacked her on the head while she was holding the child. What a dad !! Why is she hanging with a loser that doesn't Man-Up and marry her? Turns out, she might have been smart enough to not marry this genius. Also, we hear that he has weapon(s) in his father's house at Lake Monticello. How does a guy with alcohol and mental disorders (described earlier by a person in the know) get access to weapons? How many people like this buy weapons for self protection or sport, but this is how the stories usually end. How long will it take the girlfriend and child to go see him in prison and get back together for round two after he gets out of the big house.  (Feb 26, 2013 | post #26)

Voters Face Long Lines at Fork Union and Lake Monticello ...

1-1/2 hour wait starting at 3PM. Woman with 8 week old baby in front of me waited 45 minutes in the cold until a person in charge said she could go to the front of the line. What took so long? My wife left for home since she had a bad cold, but that wasn't a cause to move up, so she left. Some potential voters on our street didn't vote at all after 2 or more trips showed the same long line from sun up until sun down. Questions ... a large turnout was predicted on all TV networks, so why wasn't more machines available? Second, we paid a king's ransom for the new school, why couldn't we use the school as a polling place with more heated space? Who ever plans these things was oblivious to the weather and turn out projections.  (Nov 7, 2012 | post #15)

Ryan Rally held in Richmond - NBC29 WVIR Charlottesville,...

RNC needs to work harder to garner more minority votes to win this election. I looked at the crowd meeting Ryan's plane at Richmond, a highly minority demographic city, yet saw little to no ethnic minorities. Granted, it was a video and hard to determine minority presence. At least there was a decent, albeit white, female presence.  (Sep 1, 2012 | post #16)

Fluvanna Parents Voice Concern over New Bus Routes - NBC2...

Agree. New school(s), new routes, confused kiddies .. problems will get worked out. What won't get worked out is kids embarking and disembarking on/off the bus. The bus shows up, kids looked surprised it has arrived. Parents getting the kids out of their cars with all their gear, then watch as they take forever to get on the bus, and the bus never moves until all the little guys and gals have spent an eternity finding their seat ... all to be repeated at the next bus stop. When the bus brings the educated pupils home, the door opens and you can see the kids take forever to get out of their seat and off the bus. It's like a big surprise that they have arrived at their stop. If parents can teach their school kids to be ready to board and unload from the buses, perhaps the time on the bus will decrease for everyone, including all the truck and car traffic waiting for the kids to fumble around. Oh, wait a minute, sorry, they are only children and we must be patient, except when the parents have to wait for the kids to arrive.  (Aug 18, 2012 | post #72)
