PROPERTY VALUES AND PROPERTY TAXES
I know for a fact that some douglas county homes have been reasessed for more. My parents have already filed the apeal for theirs. It almost doubled from last year, and absolutely nothing has changed about their home this last year. Just more greed. It would help if EVERYONE in the county who had a higher asessment fought it, preferably united. It is an election year, and the squeaky wheel....... (11 hrs ago | post #10)

Ok darling, read better. It was a DRYER. And like YOU said in your post, they come to the house, no drop off or pick up. And no estimate, I said ok right off the bat to what they said it needed. Ok, I know I should leave this alone, but it is just too fun! #1- the 2 men in the article are lovers, life partners, etc. "Three years ago, Hale and Barnes met at a party in East Nashville. "We stayed up all night talking," Barnes remembers. "I knew right then that we would be together," says Hale. "That very night I gave up my flower shop and my partner. George and I have been together ever since." So either it is you, and you lied about being gay, or your lying about being that Allen Hale #2- Allen Hale speaks in complete sentences in the article. Can't be our little Jeremy. #3- There is no other info on an Allen Hale, artist to be found. So no, he's not rich or famous. #4- lived in Portland according to the article, but it is 10 years old. I guess wherever there is Mnt. Dew, Allen could be there. So Jeremy, before you assume someone else's identity, make sure you find out as much as you can. Like their sexual orientation. James, I guess this was in response to what I asked. My question was legitimate, and I didn't expect a smart aleck response. (I guess that was silly of me, huh?) Ok, to break it down a little more for you, how does having a vagina make someone a better county manager or county attny? You still have not clarified that. I am a woman, but having a uterus does not qualify me to the previous jobs. So, do you have a specific woman in mind? Or is it just to try to get women voters? My opinion of Phil has always been positive. He is like many of us, the growth and crime increase in the county has happened way to fast. He is caught in a balancing act of trying to get the BOC to fund the people and equipment desperately needed, and trying to make do until they get it. It is amazing how many things that were needed 5 years ago are just now being funded. The swat team was started with no funding. The equipment they had for the first few years was not even close to being sufficient. And the guys on it did it for free. He is in a similar boat as schools. By the time BOC comes up with the money, it is too little too late. So yes, Phill will get my vote. I think he is in a tough position, but handles it with the best diplomacy. I usually try to avoid these threads. they just become virtual witch hunts. But I have to ask James about something that jumped out to me on his site: "Appoint female to county manager and county attorney positions, to have voices in future decision making" What exactly do you mean by this? Sounds like just an attempt to garner female votes, without much substance. Which female? why? I didn't read thru the whole site, but that was something that bugged me. I posted this on the villa rica forums, but they don't get much traffic. I know alot of you live on the carroll line, so I thought it might be of interest to some of you as well. Hi, Just wanted to save someone from wasting their money and time with this company. I had called them in february to fix my clothes dryer. The gentleman who came right out was great, and seemed to fix it. Within the next week or so, my dryer began to get sooo hot on the outside that it melted plastic items sitting on top. I called the company back, and spoke with Raymond the owner. I was trying to explain what was going on, when he interrupted me saying "Dryers are suppossed to get hot, that is normal." The more I tried to explain how truely HOT it was getting, hoping they would come and look at it, he began to YELL "I HAVE WORKED FOR SEARS, JCPENNYS, ETC FOR OVER 30 YEARS. DRYERS ARE SUPPOSSED TO GET HOT!" So, I let it go, was a little mad but decided to try to figure out the problem myself. COuldn't, and now have had a dryer that I can only use the air dry feature since march. I decided to try calling again today. This same man Raymond started screaming about 1 minute into the conversation. I did end up yelling back, because it was so unbelievable. And he was saying I accused him of being a crook and other incoherent things that had NEVER been said. I don't know if dementia is setting in or what. But do not waste your time with Carrolls Appliance Repair, unless you like to be screamed at like a dog. So now, I paid them over $100 in february, it is june and I still don't have a dryer that works. And the 2 times I have called since, I can't get any repair help, just screaming.Good business!
