I agree. I feel that I am a better person for knowing her. I share grief with the group for the loss of a wonderful person.  (Jan 20, 2014 | post #95523)

You wanna gender bash and think that makes you better than someone discussing politics. Go ahead. My response? Fook you. This is a public forum. I didn't see one politely framed request to take this to another thread. Only demands. Not one single please.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #74031)

Here's a pretty good article most of us could agree on: http://www.slate.c om/blogs/xx_factor /2012/10/04/obama_ and_romney_debate_ wonkish_nonsense_w ins_.html Here's enough that you don't really need to read the article: "Romney and Obama brought last night was a glorious rhetoric of specificity, though specific to a world not ours." "This is a certain kind of mastery over non-facts, and I find it genuinely impressive. When forced into a misleading statement lesser intelligences will gravitate toward the general, but Obama and Romney have command of the fake particulars, and bat them around with considerable facility. Fake fact-giving is harder than truth-telling, and rather more fun to watch. I like the two worlds we learned about last night; I would prefer to live in one of them."  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #74026)

The tea party, among other Republicans, were not on board with Boehner, who basically has demonstrated no real leadership. Even if they reached a deal at that time, the votes may not have been there. The tea party had taken a great deal of control and vowed to not allow any tax increases, and the Republican party's main mission was not to get a deal but to ensure Obama was not re-elected.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #74024)

Although this may be true, what squishy said is also true. Romney got MA legislature to approve tax increases. The Republicans are swearing they will not support tax increases. Therefore, I think she had a good point. The approach he took in the past is not supported by his party.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #74023)

WebMD has the same conclusion: "In general, vasectomy reversal ... Leads to overall pregnancy rates of greater than 50%" http://www.webmd.c om/infertility-and -reproduction/vase ctomy-reversal-vas ovasostomy Their source is cited. Of course you can't rely on it. Anyone who would get a vasectomy expecting it to be only a temporary measure is a fool. But reversals resulting in pregnancies are not rare.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #19)

You know nothing of the facts. Almost all economists agree that further reductions in taxes will not have the effect you say. The notion that reducing taxes will create jobs only holds true if the tax rates are extremely high, and they are basically at historical lows. Corporations are currently holding more cash than they have in something like 50 years. Letting them keep more is not going to create jobs. DEMAND creates jobs.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #74010)

L1: Oh my. You are an idiot. You have an orally eager wife, and you turned her away for 16 years? And now you're upset about it? This is all on you buddy. L2: Wow. I would want to confront him, but objectively, I'm not sure what good is going to come out of it. I imagine he's too old and frail to hurt anyone else. At least take comfort in that. As to whether you should continue to see him. I dunno. I guess I would say that you should do whatever benefits YOU. If the allegations true, the old man doesn't deserve compassion and comfort in his old age. If you're thinking about ending your relationship with him, I think you should first confront him. However, if you find something satisfying with your relationship and plan to continue it, then that's your right. L3 & L4: I mostly agree with Prudie  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #73995)

Even you said he increased taxes as governor. He's probably willing to do that as President, but he's such a sleazeball that he will say that he would never do it because he thinks it's the electable thing to say.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #73991)

Oh, Romney may be a fine President. Dunno. But he's feeding a line of crap to get elected. I mean, it's a well-polished line of crap, but he's only saying what he thinks people want to hear. I really don't believe much of what he's saying is actually his plan.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #73990)

That's what he *said*. It would be like me saying, "Well, I'm going to take shots of that whiskey but will not get drunk. How can you say I'm going to get drunk by drinking that whiskey. I just told you that I only drink the whiskey if it will not make me drunk." He previously floated a plan. Analysts say it will reduce revenues WAY more than it increases them through loophole eliminations. Now, he's saying that's not his plan. He doesn't agree with a plan that he floated. It's all smoke and mirrors. Look, I'm really not trying to say Obama is doing it right. I'm really not. But I am saying the alternative is a worse option. The 6 years of spending with 10 years of revenues has been deemed "half true" by PolitiFact. http://www.politif act.com/wisconsin/ statements/2012/au g/08/eric-hovde/go p-candidate-us-sen ate-hovde-claims-o bamacare-lev/ Although some of the spending increases don't start, some have started. Some of the increased taxes also have not started. Anyway, we liberals believe that the only way to reduce the amount this country spends on health care is to get government involved. The free market will not result in improved health care at reduced costs. Is there a better and more sustainable way than Obama care? Probably. Will Republicans ever get on board. No way.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #73989)

I'm glad you guys had the same reaction to the letters as I did. L1: Seriously lady, if you're sending checks to strangers, it's no wonder people think you are rich. Take control of your own life. L2: In this letter, it seems like you're bashing her kids. Her kids haven't really done much? I hope you didn't say that to her. I suspect you *only* implied it to her. I also suspect you both repeatedly try to bolster your own kids' accomplishments while diminishing the others. However, if she truly is saying negative things about your children, call her out on it. "That's not a very nice thing to say."  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #7)
