Sorority president sued over wax statue of herself

Really? Wow. Didn't know that. You ladies have a lot of honorary members from all different backgrounds and professional fields and I think that is a great thing. Yeah, I know a lot of your sorors from WIU. We got along pretty well. I am a sister of a Latina-based sorority and we were/are part of the same greek council at school. It's been a few years since I graduated though.  (Jul 30, 2009 | post #34)

CLAY AIKEN: Clay Aiken says he is gay

Why don't you try and reconstruct your statement and use punctuation, capitalization and spell check and try this again? Your post looks like a 5 year old wrote it.  (Jul 9, 2009 | post #79)

Taste of Chicago 2009: details and tips

Hello, Grey Goose. You are correct. It is safe to assume either scenario. So for the 1st scenario, you can walk the other way not paying attention to them and stay in the area of the taste and they'll pretty much leave you alone. If you start heading towards them in a dark alley after the taste, then yes, you can expect trouble. Also, if you see other young men with opposing colors, tattoos, jeans below their waste, etc., then you'd better walk away and inform a police officer that there may be trouble. But don't let those thugs deter you from going to the Taste at all or avoid going into the city at all.  (Jun 26, 2009 | post #96)

Taste of Chicago 2009: details and tips

LOL. you thought wrong. I was born in Los Angeles, lived there until I was 9, moved to Chicago, Portage Park area to be exact, moved out of the city for high school (no, not north shore or anywhere rich for that matter), went away to college, now living in a northern suburb and I don't even own a pink cubs hat or visor. Actually, none of my Cubs stuff is pink. I have friends and family in Pilsen, so I'm there quite frequently. My friend was Chicago Police Officer Alex Valadez who was SHOT and KILLED in the line of duty by gang-bangers. So, I think you need to sit your pretty little self down and stop assuming you know people on a message board.  (Jun 26, 2009 | post #95)

Taste of Chicago 2009: details and tips

Thanks, GoSox05. Same goes to you! :) And yes, I need to be careful out there in the big scary City!! Maybe I can find me a man to protect me and come to my rescue when I see a group of people standing around.  (Jun 25, 2009 | post #85)

To Grey Goose: The color of their skin matters when people automatically assume that a group of minorities hanging out together, is automatically "Gang Type People" I'm not racist, I'm just tired of being classified based on the color of my skin (I'm Latina).  (Jun 25, 2009 | post #84)

Taste of Chicago 2009: details and tips

LOL. wow. "Gang Type People"? Do you mean black and latino people? I sure hope you don't. I sure hope you're more open minded to categorize people as "Gang Type People" as you see fit. Enjoy your taste at home. News Flash: People get hurt everywhere you go. There are different people all over the place no matter where it is. That's life. As long as you're not walking alone in some dark alley after midnight, you'll be ok.  (Jun 24, 2009 | post #59)

Taste of Chicago 2009: details and tips

I can't wait to go. We get there when they open, around 11, and we're outta there by about 2, when the crowds start to show up. It's not as packed around that time. We also buy our tickets from Dominicks and bring bottles of water. I have never had a bad experience at the taste, nor would I judge an entire event based on one isolated incident or exaggerate it, either.  (Jun 24, 2009 | post #31)

Pilot dies mid-flight: Continental Airlines flight makes ...

Thank You! In all seriousness, I DID express my condolences, but I was just imagining what it would be like to be a passenger on that flight. Yes, everyone has their right to their opinions, but there's no reason for the verbal attacks and writing in all caps to make themselves seem all tough and high and mighty. It's a message board, folks. Let's not get too offended by everything...  (Jun 18, 2009 | post #38)

Pilot dies mid-flight: Continental Airlines flight makes ...

Wow. My condolences go out to the family and friends of this pilot. I couldn't imagine being a passenger on that flight if they would've announced "ladies and gentlemen, please remain seated. The pilot has just died, but we have a back up, so continue to enjoy your in flight entertainment "  (Jun 18, 2009 | post #4)

Gun matches bullet that killed Chicago cop, officials say

R.I.P. Alex. You will be missed. I still remember the good times we all had at WIU, I still can't believe you're gone. I'll be there for you on Friday. I'm so glad they caught these two low life sc um bags. I hope they rot away in jail with no chance of parole. Too bad IL no longer has the death penalty.  (Jun 4, 2009 | post #25)
