Our troops at Camp Maxey

I would say no it is not common for the community to help feed and supply soldiers with the necessary items. It is not like Camp Maxey has a PX/BX or commissary on post. And these soldiers are guard/reserve. From my understanding are not allowed to go far off post if even off post. They do have other issues going on that I am not at liberty to say. However, it is greatly appreciated that the community is supporting the troops. Thank you to the community and Thank you to those who have and are serving. The military does take care of the soldiers/troops. I am not trying to be a smart a$$. Please dont take it that way.  (Aug 19, 2008 | post #51)

As a representative of the American Red Cross, please DO NOT just go to Camp Maxey. There is a proper way to do this. If you are interested in stopping by to say hi to the soldiers and support them in any other way, you can contact the American Red Cross Lamar County Chapter. Someone there can help you. The reasoning behind not being able to just show up is they are training and security reasons as well. We do thank you for your continued support of the troops.  (Aug 11, 2008 | post #24)

Since we are talking about supporting the soldiers at Camp Maxey. There is a list of requests/ what is needed for these soldiers on the lamar county red cross website. Also things can be donated at the Brookshires on Clarksville in Paris or Paris Fire Department station 1. the web site is lamarcounty.redcross.org Then you can click on the Camp Maxey tab and there should be sub tabs one should be what is needed. Briefly personal hygeine items (shampoo, conditioner, dental stuff travel sizes)(individual packages of snacks (trailmix, beefjerky, gum, sunflower seeds) just some things that I can remember off the top of my head. Saturday there should also be volunteers out at the Brookshires collecting donations as well from 10-4. A few of us, myself included. was out there yesterday.  (Aug 10, 2008 | post #7)

What kind of RESTAURANT does Paris need?

I think we need either a Baldinos or Jersey Mikes sub place. Something other than Subway.  (Aug 6, 2008 | post #163)
