Olbermann's Outburst

So, Mr. O -- and other O's -- feel it was not APPROPRIATE to have a remembrance of 9/11 in a gathering of adults who were specifically representing our country? Mr. O tries to justify this statement by saying he knew people who died. My honest sympathies, many of us did. But there is no logic connecting those two statements. I'll tell you what is not appropriate. It is not appropriate for people like you and I, just living our lives -- going to our jobs, balancing our family life, full of plans and choices for the future -- and suddenly all we really have to choose from at "best", is how to end our life NOW: burning to death -- or jumping out a window of a skyscraper. NOW. Party or religious affiliation was not a deciding issue that day for those inside the Towers, Pentagon -- or planes. It is not appropriate to hide the pictures of what happened, as amazingly enough, across the globe, people are already starting to deny and minimize what occurred. We SHOULD remember the horror, the pain, that ended so many thousands of innocent lives and scarred tens if not hundreds of thousands more. Shall this now only be recalled and shown on 9/11, on less and less channels each year, with dozens of warnings translating, "Close your eyes!" beforehand? IT HAPPENED. It is not appropriate to want to forget. These brothers and sisters of ours were murdered 7 years ago this month. It needs to be present in order for everyone to continue to learn from and about. Every time, new generations see it and know how very, very badly our personal territory was obliterated. Words surely do not do it "justice ". It is not appropriate that the DNC didn't show it first...THAT is where the fear lies...what on their platform addresses avoiding this abomination again? There is no other/bigger attack that this country has endured in our lifetimes. It should always be at the forefront. Save your flames; my statements are not pointedly about the war in Iraq. It is about whether showing that video to adults was appropriate. It will NEVER not be appropriate. People are going soft and had better toughen up. Weaklings aren't helpful under attack. Thinking of all of you who have also suffered the pain of that accursed day and all that followed, Crysania  (Sep 7, 2008 | post #1)

Team spoke, America listened

Even the forgiveness of Jesus does not and should not eliminate the consequences of mistakes/sins that we must endure here on earth. Without consequences, we wouldn't have a chance for growth, Don't be so rude and sanctimonious about that minister.  (Apr 13, 2007 | post #55)

Rosie's Orwellian insult of O'Reilly

Rosie seems to pick on people who are as rude and as obnoxious as she is -- perhaps it is another expression of her sad self-hatred.  (Apr 6, 2007 | post #160)

Feds find another chemical in pet food

"what is next?" We all know what's next -- can't believe they didn't START with it. Baby food. As for the pet food, thank God my 9 Lives is still intact for my 3 cats. I would be in a coma if I had fed my pets poison, and my sympathies to the innocent who have been forced to do that. As for anything beyond that, I could not survive. But that's what THEY are counting on.  (Mar 31, 2007 | post #10)

LI jury rejects teacher's $2 million witch claim

You can drug test me anytime. Actually, I agree that they should. I am unsure what you mean by "these people raise..." -- is it the teachers or parents you are referring to in that sentence? Just don't make across the board statements -- they are not accurate. I am here to prove it.  (Mar 14, 2007 | post #111)

I'm sorry if you've had bad experiences of your own. But you are very irresponsible and mean to make such an unkind, untrue blanket statement.  (Mar 13, 2007 | post #41)

Long Island's best slice of pizza

Of course, Joe DiMaggio's Pizza on East 90th Street and 1st Avenue in Manhattan was the best -- but they're gone now. : ( Dino's Pizza on Flatbush Avenue off of Avenue K is a great memory -- don't remember if they were any good, but back in the day they were all we had, and we didn't know anything different!  (Feb 21, 2007 | post #12)
