What a nice, neat, tidy little republican fantasy world...You left out a bunch of stuff though. The biggest special interests out there IS private business - you know, those guys on Wall street who wrecked our economy, the drug companies, the insurance companies, the HMO's, the military contractors, the real estate industry - all those special interests who have laws on the books protecting them while they have the nerve to preach "free markets". And now you want to give them free reign without accountability? Talk about lack of ethics and morals. Corporate america wrote the play book. (Monday Nov 30 | post #10)
Black Friday a shopper's delight - Hawaii Business
there is nothing delightful about paying alot of money for crap that doesn't work. I've tried no less than 3 digital picture frames, each around $100. Absolutely none have worked out of the box. Quite frankly, I'm tired of the hassles of doing returns. Retailers and manufactures need to get their heads out of their okoles. (Saturday Nov 28 | post #9)

I've heard some lame excuses made by smokers but yours really takes the cake. The smoking ban did NOT create the problem with tossed butts. Waikiki Beach and Haunama Bay has been one giant ashtray for decades. Every litter pickup campaign has shown cigarette butts to be the primary source of litter and trash in our environment. I can't tell you the number of times I've been hit by someone's discarded butt from a moving vehicle while I rode a bike or moped. Lots of fun being hit by a burning object and trying not to crash. So really, give us a break. Stop making excuses. (Nov 17, 2009 | post #32)

Both the SB and Advertisers have side stories about a shooting at ft hood. Too bad both papers forgot to publish the actual news item so people would know what they are talking about. Useless and clueless as usual. (Nov 5, 2009 | post #3)
Outsourcing networks can save firms money - Hawaii Business
Cloud computing is just the latest in the internet hype. Promoters of the concept continue to fail to address privacy, security, backup, and recovery concerns. The internet is still an unsecured network. One need only look at online storage sites and read about the horror stories encountered. TMobile customers lost their contacts list because a vendor's hardware crashed and there was no backups to recover from. Your IT network and the information stored on it is a vital asset of your company. How many businesses can survive a day, week, or month if their computer network is not available? Outsourcing means you give up control and you turn it over to others who don't share your mission or goals. (Nov 1, 2009 | post #2)

Yo, Richard Webster - but it's okay if for-profit health insurers and HMO's rip off consumers, require unnecessary tests, interfer with a doctor's treatment plan, drive up health costs, and to deny coverage and claims when people need it the most and when they are most vunerable. Yeah, right, trust big business and corporate america to take care of the average citizen. NOT!! The system is seriously broken and it needs to be fixed. (Oct 24, 2009 | post #5)

Sorry but graffiti is illegal. It doesn't matter what the message is or the materials used, it's still illegal. I was appalled when I came home today to find my neighborhood sidewalks trashed and I don't appreciate it one bit. Shame on you. (Oct 24, 2009 | post #1)

From 5 to 30 mph??? In Hawaii?? Who are you trying to kid? No one drives that slow here. Try 45 to 60 mph along date street who then cut in front of you and miss your front tire by a couple of inches. (Oct 2, 2009 | post #33)
