whats the longest you've been on celexa.
I've been on it for 2 years now. Very few side effects so I'm not planning to stop anytime soon. It has been like a miracle drug for me! (Wednesday Dec 23 | post #2)
My experience with Celexa has been positive, and it actually made me more motivated in some areas such as exercising.Prior to Celexa I was completely immobilized by anxiety. However, it did remove some of my 'perfectionist' traits which is likely why the anxiety disappeared, and I found myself not caring so much if I got everything right. And I'm much happier! Since I don't consider myself to be terribly creative that area really isn't something I can comment on. (Oct 18, 2009 | post #2)
I've been taking 30 mg for about 2 years now and I've also been having vivid dreams, but I love them! They are so intense and real, and so far none of them have been frightening. Fortunately I've had very few side effects. (Oct 18, 2009 | post #27)
Accutane, Isotretinoin (generic)
Accutane Side Effects Exposed: Side Effects of the Miracle Drug...
Temple, I started posting on this board because my 17 year old daughter has acne. I had acne as a teen too so want to do whatever I can to help her because I know how hard it can be, just like your mom wants the best for you and your sister. I was pretty much ready to encourage my daughter to try accutane so started doing some internet research. My opinion has changed! Just print off some of the information you have found here, or show your mom this thread. Hopefully your doctor will support you in finding alternatives. (Jul 6, 2008 | post #1822)
Accutane, Isotretinoin (generic)
My 17 year old daughter and I did a lot of reading yesterday on the raw food diet. It sounds great, but overwhelming and a bit confusing particularly for a teen. I picked up a book at the library on raw food diets, and right beside it was a book "The Clear Skin Diet" by Logan and Treloar. It is the same principles as the raw food diet but not as restrictive so fits in better with a teen's lifestyle. Silverado, have you ever heard of it? She's starting it tomorrow so I'll keep you posted on whether or not her acne improves. (Jul 6, 2008 | post #23)
Accutane, Isotretinoin (generic)
Accutane Side Effects Exposed: Side Effects of the Miracle Drug...
I'm really glad to have found this forum. My 17 year old daughter has tried many topical treatments with no improvement, and so far we have resisted accutane. But I had acne when I was a teen and I know how devastating it is and how much better it got with tetracyline. I want her to find a miracle cure!! She has an appointment with a dermatologist next week who will push accutane and will get annoyed when we resist. Wish us luck! I'm off to check out the "Attn Silverado" thread. Impulsiveness/ Agression on Citalopram?
Zeannn, my experience with citalopram has been very much like yours - positive effects very quickly and for the first time in 30 years I actually feel good! I've been on it for about 18 months. The impulsiveness was a bit of a problem initially (credit cards!!) and I think I was more outspoken/aggressive, but it has eased off. And no one else seemed to notice so perhaps it wasn't as bad as I thought, it was just a change from my shy and self conscious behavior. I don't think your quick response to the drug is 'abnormal'. Meerkat, thanks for your advice about eating more protein. I've lost about 15 pounds since starting Celexa last March, and I'm continuing to lose. I want to exercise and eat healthy but really can't afford to keep dropping the pounds! (Mar 18, 2008 | post #17)
Can anyone identify, or ease my worry a little bit?
Gary, you're doing the right thing by going to your doctor. I'm thrilled with Celexa but it certainly isn't for everyone. And you are right that antidepressants have been found to have more negative side effects, with negative thoughts, when taken by children and teens and there have been public health warnings. Not sure about young adults but it is absolutely something to talk to your doctor about. (Feb 25, 2008 | post #2)
Donna, I agree with valerie, your son really should get back to the doctor quickly. A lot of antidepressants aren't recommended for teens because for some reason they can have really negative side effects. And they all affect people differently so perhaps this just isn't the right one. I started at 10mg and gradually worked up to 30, but 10 was perfect to start. Good luck. (Jan 23, 2008 | post #12)
Hi karrrrr, There is another thread on the same topic that you might find helpful, it is the topic "Please Reply". Really, you are the only one who can decide. I had similar symptoms to yours and reluctantly took celexa, and I'm so glad that I did. Others have trouble with it. Good luck! (Dec 30, 2007 | post #2)
Cindy, I was very reluctant to try celexa after bad experiences a few years ago with prozac and paxil. But I am so glad I tried it! After decades of low-level anxiety and depression I feel like I can finally live my life. It has been amazing. Few side effects for me other than weight loss. I take it at about 10:00. It is different for everyone of course so watch the side effects, but it is probably worth trying. (Dec 22, 2007 | post #13)
blitz, I was prescribed Celexa a few months ago for long-term, low-level anxiety and depression. I am thrilled that it has helped with my social phobia which has been an unexpected additional benefit. Cassie, I hope I don't become immune to celexa for a long time but it is good to know there are other options. (Nov 21, 2007 | post #4)
My recent Celexa prescription came with red warning label not to drink alcohol while taking the medication. I've pretty much stopped drinking on Celexa because it seems to counteract the positive effects of the medication. And wouldn't excess drinking combined with Celexa be brutal on your liver? New to celexa ... jaw clenching and loss of appetite?
Just found this forum and it is reassuring to find out others have had similar issues with weight loss and jaw clenching. I started on celexa in March and am THRILLED to be rid of my chronic anxiety and low-level depression. But I've lost 15 pounds which has had me worried. I'd love to start exercising to tone but don't want to lose more weight! (Nov 5, 2007 | post #30)
