2 reputed gang members charged in death of boy, 5

Fry them; I'm so tired of hearing that a child has been shot so these worthless, empty, gutless, cowards can roam our streets and just shoot whenever they feel like it, or because someone looked at them wrong, made eye-contact or whatever gives them an excuse to shoot. No child should ever be lost because of these cowards, its happening too often, it should never happen and I'm for one, sick of it. Go meet somewhere remote and shoot yourselves right out of here and into the next life. In my day, a MAN who had to fight or had a beef, fought with his fists like a MAN, no child was ever at risk, this is cowardly.  (Nov 8, 2010 | post #4)

Longtime owner of The Bull Pen in Redondo Beach dies

It's a shame that this wonderful woman passed away, and I feel I've missed out on meeting someone very special. I don't know too many long-time employees who stay as many years with an employer, particularly in this type of business, and feel so lovingly towards their employer. It appears that she gave her employees a happy place to work with a solid sense of security, and now the family will continue this, which will ensure her memory and success as a person. I'm just sorry that someone of your ineptitude doesn't grasp this life that she lived and the wonderful stories that I'm sure many customers have, as well as what a loving legacy she has left for her family & staff. I, for one and I'm sure joined by many, thank the DB for covering her passing and will say a special prayer for this wonderful woman and her family. Alas, for someone named Dick ... I'll just leave you to your own sad world.  (Sep 5, 2010 | post #19)

Disney, Muslim worker still at impasse

OMH!!! I completely agree; she knew there was a dress code, perfectly acceptable, I think she just wants the publicity. I, like millions of others, have been going to Disneyland for years and I couldn't tell you what religion any employee belonged to and wouldn't care. Rules of employment are to be followed when you agree to become an employee with any company. If you don't like the rules then take your option and leave, she's just another uncooperative opportunist who wants to use any allegations she can to further her own twisted agenda. If she doesn't like the rules, go someplace, anyplace else.  (Aug 24, 2010 | post #54)

Violence, looting break out after BART officer's manslaug...

Personally, I don't believe this officer intended to draw his gun and after watching numerous video's of this shooting early on after this happened, my opinion is solid. This officer had a huge crowd of onlookers and fellow-officers around and it makes no sense at all that he would intentionally shoot Oscan Grant. While I do have sympathy for the victims family, I believe that if the victim had just done what he was ordered to do like anyone else, and not fought with the police officers who were trying to cuff him, as shown & supported by the many video's which clearly show him struggling and being uncooperative. After the shooting this officer was video taped as well, repeatedly saying "Oh my God I shot him." Was the victim being uncooperative because of the many onlookers supporting him? Did they have a part in the stress that was being created by the crowd? Absolutely. And finally, was this unusual behavior for the Oscar Grant...unfortunat ely it doesn't appear so. This victim served two state prison terms for felonies, which included a fire-arm charge (gun thrown while being chased by officers) & drugs. Now, his so called supporters who were disappointed in this verdict begin looting? What purpose does this serve? Destroying your own community? How does this help? I agree with many on this topic who say it’s just an excuse...but I also believe it’s just an excuse to hate and spread hate & ignorance. Inglewood has had many police-involved shootings that left me speechless, but residents there haven't looted ... It's ironic that Oscar Grant didn't show respect and the aftermath was equally disrespectful, because what has been improved upon because of this circus? Oscar Grant is still dead and this officer will have to carry this on his conscience the rest of his life.  (Jul 9, 2010 | post #55)

Apartment plans moving ahead in Rancho Palos Verdes

I also understand that children abruptly run in front of cars, I do hope you don't find it too much of an effort to hit your brakes; what an argument! Life must be rough for you. It must be just awful to be old, bitter and non-appreciative in life, you are a very sorry fixture and I do hope that one day your toilet overflows all over your "natural fixture!" "Dumber" stray dogs?? Maybe a frightened lost pet? You are a negative piece of work for sure!  (Jul 7, 2010 | post #32)

Apartment plans moving ahead in Rancho Palos Verdes

I just wonder when the City of RHE is going to initiate trapping & caging happy, giggling, healthy children? What's next on the list, people who laugh loudly? Instead of appreciating a beautiful creature and consider themselves lucky enough to live in what used to be a beautiful natural setting, these over-monied, over-sized ego maniacs want a big cement jungle. I guess they should feel thankful they are so special and can over-rule one of God's most beautiful creations. What a shame they are creating and encouraging such complete ignorance and, how ironic that the City of RHE is supporting problems mainly because of "waste," isn't this just a bit hypocritical?  (Jul 7, 2010 | post #31)

Hawthorne man arrested on animal cruelty charges for alle...

Barry, just so there is no misunderstanding (as obviously in your family genes), bovine, chicken & fish are a far cry from a domesticated dog. The difference between and unfortunately, an animal that is raised specifically for consumption by us whacko's and a domesticated dog is the difference between your sister being your sister and not calling her your mother. Understand? Now, go put some gas in your car and grab a burger, you need it.  (May 27, 2010 | post #86)

Hawthorne man arrested on animal cruelty charges for alle...

I don't think it's the dog who should euthanized, I think you fit the bill for that you moron! I think all readers of this topic and the neighbors of this piece of worthless cr** would vote for you to take the place of this poor dog and all the neighbors would turn a blind eye. You freaking creep!! Tell me, did you mispell your name, shouldn't it be ChuMP.  (May 26, 2010 | post #67)

Hawthorne man arrested on animal cruelty charges for alle...

First off, the headline should not have the word "Man" in it. This little piece of sissified flesh should be given to those of us who would be more than happy to give him a taste of his type of demented, twisted torture of a completely helpless animal. If real PUNISHMENT would follow this type of behavior, I know we would see less of this type of headline and I would just LOVE to have 5 minutes with this little B**chboy and then pass on what's left to the next person. Could you only imagine what this waste of space would do to an infant? Why do we take the chance to find out, fire up the chair and get rid of him now, I've got a long extension cord with his name on it! B******d! Thank god the neighbors got involved!  (May 26, 2010 | post #46)

Grieving mom hopes for justice

SELFISH for friends & family to subject daily commuters to this display." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! What if this were your loved one, let alone your child; wouldn't you want to bring this senseless act, an act that took your child's life and bring attention to it? I don't feel, and correct me if I'm wrong, that many others with a conscience and heart and love for their child would object to this "decor" at all. As far as your opinion of her car being "too much car for a young person to drive," I find it to be completely insensitive and WRONG she appears to have been a very responsible young lady. I know many "Grunters " who shouldn't drive at all. Are you related to the guy that is responsible for this tragedy? Or are you always this insensitive? I know that some people, I'll include you in this arena, whose opinions and verbal skills are in the category of too much mouth and not enough thought.  (May 11, 2010 | post #96)

Grieving mom hopes for justice

Driving way too fast? Are you kidding me, how do you know? How do you know she wasn't trying to get away from this worthless piece of flesh because he was aiming his truck at her? The fact is that this piece of scum saw what HE caused and didn't even turn around. From your remark that she, the victim was responsible tells me that you are equally moronic. Do us a big favor and keep your worthless a## in Connecticut. Read the article and learn, this was a first rain here in SoCal which makes the road even more slick, unlike your remark.  (May 10, 2010 | post #80)

Grieving mom hopes for justice

I find it hard to believe that Mr. McDonald says he was afraid of Smith; if this were so then why when Smith can't be found anywhere does McDonald come forward and spill his guts out, shouldn't McDonald be even more afraid now? Smith could easily come out of the woodwork and take revenge on him and go back into hiding? I think Mr. McDonald has not only moral issues and possibly some guilt issues going on, but it seems to me that there are some other reason$ for his admission as well. For his part in this tragedy and the fact that he withheld this information I think he should be charged with manslaughter, withholding evidence, leaving the scene of a crime and anything else they could throw at him. I think he's full of crap to put it mildly. Anyone who could sit on this type of tragedy and not come forward immediately we certainly don't need breathing the same air as the rest of us, these two victims were loved and important to families & friends and had full lives ahead of them. This is shameful and disgusting and happening way too often.  (May 10, 2010 | post #79)

Rolling Hills Estates wants two horseback-riding business...

First off, Mr. Murnane, don't give up this fight, you bring too much joy to too many people! For those of you who are complaining I believe in this day & age with so many serious topics and complaints; some of you have loved ones in other countries fighting; natural disasters wiping out homes and entire families; people losing their jobs & homes here; a loved one terminally ill; I could go on & on about the serious topics but I think the majority of you understand what I'm saying. I find it absolutely shameful & disgusting that some "people" have nothing better to do with their lives than complain about the horses & the trail riding businesses in an area that was originally meant for just this type of activity. But then these are probably the same "people" who complain about the pea fowl. These miserable & unhappy, usually hypocritical snobs should be grateful they live in such a natural & beautiful setting and be thankful they are healthy and financially secure, which I'm assuming because of the complete waste of money this "fight" is costing someone. Too bad they don't have the decency to spend this money as in the form of a donation to Shriners or Ronald McDonald House....Shame on you for your complete lack of appreciation of just how lucky you are.  (Apr 26, 2010 | post #25)

Dogs attack baby left on floor of SoCal apartment

And Rose just what is your experience on Pit Bulls/mixes? What you've read? Owned? Friends/family? The breed is not bad; they have a great temperament (many professionals can back this up as well as vets), as in many sad cases, the owners are completely irresponsible. BESIDES IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERSHIP the bite radius and strength of their jaws is like few others and this is where the damage is from, not temperament. If the same were said of Dalmations, Chihuahua's, Cocker Spaniels and Chows to name a few, the Pit wouldn't even make this "list." So please inform us all of your vast experience.  (Apr 9, 2010 | post #81)

Dogs attack baby left on floor of SoCal apartment

I can't even begin to wonder what type of inbred moron you are; your comical, uninformed ranting is at best, sad & empty, as is your knowledge of dogs, any dog. I own and have owned numerous breeds; boxer, German shepherd, lab & now my pit mix, all dogs have lived to a ripe old age, my pit is now 12yrs and going strong. I have adored all of my pets, carefully kept them safe by socializing them and NEVER LEAVING THEM ALONE WITH CHILDREN. This is not rocket science, even you should be able to grasp the fact that any person who cares about their dog, NO MATTER WHAT BREED, would never let a child, let alone an infant, be left unattended and in many cases, be in the same area of a child. It is never worth the risk of what could happen! The person(s) at fault here are completely the dog owner and this poor child's "vessel, " mother. Obviously, she isn't much of a mother if her infant was in another room, on the floor no less, while she was ...where and doing what? What could have been more important than this baby? So, Ron, you just stay uninformed as I do realize you must not be able to handle too much and I'll pray that one day your own testosterone kicks in and works its way up to your head...after all, something should fill in that empty space.  (Apr 9, 2010 | post #79)
