Iowa House primary ground zero for gay marriage fight

LOL, Your name is Straight as an Arrow! Too bad we can't say that about your thought process. Maybe reading these posts will help you think outside your small mental bigot box and see the bigger picture. I don't know any gay that is ashamed for being who they are; fearful about what others will do/think/say to them if they knew maybe... ashamed? I think not.  (Aug 8, 2010 | post #51)

That there is a edumcated statement you made HateGays... you shure are a genius feller. Did you know some straight couples can't produce a child either... So should they not be allowed to get married either? I also heard that long periods of stress and anger lowers sperm counts too, so if I was you I'd get out of the hating business. It's not looking good for your marriage rights, just might have to revoke them because you can't knock anyone up. (That's a good thing in my opinion.)  (Aug 8, 2010 | post #6)

MARRIAGE RALLIES: Two groups with different views on same...

Wasn't meaning to go over the top, I'm just sick of people thinking that we don't deserve the same rights as everyone else. We're Americans too. If it takes me sharing my story and making someone see a lil glimpse in our shows is worth it. Doesn't mean you have to agree, but all we want is to be happy and treated with respect.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #86)

Iowan Reaction To California's Prop 8 Ruling

When you say "we" you're meaning ones that use religion to back up discrimination... You do know that marriage was first brought about by the Hammurabi Codes in mid 1700BC. It wasn't created as a religious institution, but a social one. To bring about solidarity and bonds in Meso tribes. So before you say that "we" chose a definition from 5000 years ago, know that the rest of "us" are still fighting to make the definition that brings the most social stability to this country. Not just one that fits the majority.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #42)

You tell that to the people that were picked out and killed by others all because they were gay, like Matthew Shepard. You tell that to the teenagers that were bullied everyday in school. *Raises hand* Teenage suicide is one of the leading killers of teenagers behind MVAs. (If you'd like I can give you URL to statistics) Gay teenagers make up majority of those suicide numbers. This discrimination is all because of somthing that is NOT a choice. I knew since I was five years old that I was different from my two other brothers. I knew that I didn't meet majority norms. So when people say it's a choice, really? How much of a choice is it when it's not something I woke up one day and decided, "Hey I think I wanna be discriminated against today". I grew up in a conservative baptist home. I know what the bible says about homosexuality. It was preached to me throughout my whole life. I read leviticus over and over. I didn't come out to my parents until I was twenty, and in college out of fear of how cut off my parents will go. Thank God I have parents that love me no matter what. You want to talk about the hardest thing to do. Trust me if it was easy as turn my gay switch on and off , don't you think I would already so I wouldn't have to face my parents? So even though we're not getting casinos, or slaved; everyday is a war. A war to be accepted, not be bullied, not to be judge... just to be equal.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #80)

Sorry, but when judges rule a law unconstitutional that protects minorities from the abuses of the majority. You know another example happened like this, oh ya! You remember the Jim Crow laws? If not, read up, think you'll see some similarities why judges rule the way that they did in that case and this present case.  (Aug 4, 2010 | post #56)

HAHA seriously? I'm 100% certain that's not the case... That's the most closed minded statement I've ever read. That's like me saying, "John=Will remain single cause he's fat and ugly". Do I know that? No... Do you know what you said is true? Hell no. So my advice to you, think before you make another dumb remark like you did. Overall, it just shows you lack of knowledge and best kept to yourself.  (Aug 4, 2010 | post #6)

Marriage should open to same sex. Marriage was first founded by the Hammurabi codes in mid 1700's BC. It was on basis for social stability not as a religious ritual. Marriage should also not be used another tool for people to discriminate against others with.  (Aug 4, 2010 | post #1)
