Fuel Hedging

It should be noted that hedge percentage is not all that relevant on it's own. An airline could be 100% hedged, but if they're hedged at $120/bbl, they are a lot worse off than a carrier that is 50% hedged at $80/bbl.  (Jun 5, 2008 | post #9)

I never made any reference to a monkey doing your job. You must have confused me with someone else.  (May 20, 2008 | post #120)

You don't have a clue do you. Accounting is in no way related to Math. There is no such thing as "business math". If you're daughter actually had an accounting degree and had passed the cpa exam, you would know that.  (May 20, 2008 | post #118)

Does your daughter agree that the advanced accounting courses she took and the CPA exam she passed was easier than high school courses?  (May 19, 2008 | post #111)

Actually, I've never shown contempt or disdain; only an objective viewpoint based on market economics. I also tend to prefer clarity when it comes to language, which is why I corrected the mistake of calling it a profession when it obviously is not and never has been. Truckers can make pretty good money as well, but that doesn't make trucking a profession (although it could be a career). It was very hard job to get exactly because it was high-paying and desirable. There were naturally a lot of people that wanted to be FA's, so the supply of FA's outpaced the demand, making it difficult to get an FA position. This entry-barrier was driven by a supply surplus, not by it being a difficult trade to learn. I have no contempt or disdain fueling my opinions, only an interest in what underlying economic forces actually cause changes as we see them.  (May 19, 2008 | post #109)

I've already made clear that I may not have a job (with NWA) a year from now. I don't blame other people for that; that is just the way the market works, and I'll move along to something else.  (May 19, 2008 | post #72)

No, could care less; I'm very well aware of how you guys think and debate. You'd have to try a lot harder to "strike a nerve" with me. I simply responded to your post with a question, which, by the way, you seem to have never provided an alternate definition; I assume you found my statement to be true.  (May 19, 2008 | post #143)

Profession and Career are not the same thing. You could have a long career as a janitor, but that doesn't mean a janitor is a profession. Yes, I could only dream of being a flight attendant; you've got me pegged to a tee.  (May 19, 2008 | post #142)

So they were "locked out" of their work sites for 2 hours, and then they went on strike for the next couple years. NWA had to keep them off the property when it was known that a strike was going to occur. That is common sense, and probably saved millions in damage and sabotage that would have been caused by workers as they left work for their pre-determined strike.  (May 19, 2008 | post #66)

I thought it was self evident and I'm pretty sure I've already noted this, but yes, I work for NWA in one of the finance areas.  (May 19, 2008 | post #104)

Don't worry; not educated in MN. How would I be a hypocrite if I had? I don't recall saying I'm against public education.  (May 19, 2008 | post #102)

You mean an accounting degree? Do you know anybody that has an accounting degree and has passed the CPA exam? Have you ever taken any accounting courses of any level?  (May 19, 2008 | post #101)

Do you have an alternate definition that is materially different? This is a widely accepted definition; it will say nearly the same thing everywhere you look. Why waste time responding if you have nothing to counter with.  (May 16, 2008 | post #122)
