Breaking Stereotypes & Generalizations

I don't know what to think about this thread, should a person feel bad they fit certain stereotypes like having a big butt or had a manicure using fake nails before? Should the person who has not had those things before like not liking fried chicken some how feel they are better then the person that does? It doesn't seem like striving for excellence besides the education part.  (7 hrs ago | post #108)

Breaking Stereotypes & Generalizations

Well some of those things are true for me and some of them are not like the father thing but thats not my fault. Yeah I'm fat too and obtained my degree way after high school but hey at least I finished and I'm fat and happy. I don't have any tattoos and made it to 25 without any kids does that count?  (7 hrs ago | post #107)

why is it that african men have no problem with dark skinned women ...

I have to kind of disagree. I see brothers with them but its not really their preference just who they ended up with. Your right though, topix does not necessarily represent how most blacks thinks.  (7 hrs ago | post #110)

Strange how a man raised by his white mother and grand parents doesn't have those issues but a man raised by an AA man does. I would have thought it would be the reverse. People will be quick to say its just a personal preference but it can't be when everyone seems to have the same preference.  (7 hrs ago | post #109)

Yes black men definitly have those issues with dark skin sisters and african features as well. Sisters actually have those values instilled in them also. I've actually seen black mothers that frowned on their sons or said negative things when their son brought home a dark skin girl. I've also seen African and Caribbean men with the same issues as AA men as others has pointed out. Maybe not to the same extreme but its still there since like someone else already said, African women are more likely to bleach then AA women. I think every where that white people have been, no matter if it is america, africa, south america and even asia they have spread their white supremecy ideas to the people and is why you see a preference for lighter skin and white features all over the globe. I've heard of even oriental women who are already very light with straight hair getting operations on their eyes to look more european so the white preference is seen in all races and countries that white people have been.  (7 hrs ago | post #108)

Black Men Don' Qualify

Lol, Who are these black women? Beside this one very damanged sister I knew, these black women you talk about are not any sisters I know. Lol especially biggin up white men? Most sisters I know don't even like white men. I see way, way more sisters on topix that seem to like men then in real life. I can think of two in real life.  (Monday | post #39)

........Sista's, we should date AFRICAN MEN!!!!

African men are a viable options for sisters since at least they are not white. Caribbean men too. At the same time sisters shouldn't get with them just because they are sick of brothers or feel there are no good brothers because these men can do a sister dirty too. I once knew a sister that it seemed like each time I spoke to her she wasen't dealing with this type of men anymore. Starting with AA men ofcourse, then she wasn't dealing with them only Caribbeans. Then they did her dirty then only Latino men and then he did her dirty. It wasen't until she stop dating altogether for like two or three years that she finally met a decent AA man and got married.  (Monday | post #209)

My conclusion about African Americans

I could be wrong but your location says your from the Netherlands. My point is, I can try to make assessments about say South Africa but since I'm not South African or living there, my thoughts on the situation is really from an outsider's perspective looking it. It will be missing many facts even if I think I have all of them. Like I said I could be wrong, you could just be living over there now but by your over simplification of the situation, it makes me think I'm possibly correct.  (Monday | post #172)

white women are perfec. Tiger= scapegoat black women

Tiger Woods did his wife dirty so why does it matter what class she is from? Would you have more sympathy for his wife if she were from the upper class and he was cheating?  (Sunday Dec 13 | post #22)

I did kind of feel that since the women blowing Tiger Woods up are white, they would be looked as home wrecking hoes but still as individuals. Had these women been black, people would be using them as examples on how all black women are whores and nothing but trouble. It would even be a few men using them as examples of how black women always trying to destroy a brother and bring brothers down but since these are white girls, the whole race of white women are not seen as whores just them as individuals. Its not that black women never found Tiger attractive, its just that it was kind of obvious that Tiger liked nonblack women. Honestly it just seemed like it not that he isn't fine. Plus with Tiger's black father marrying an Asian woman, it seemed almost like a given that he wouldn't care for black women. I personally don't care for athletes period, basketball, football or whatever. I much rather see my son do something else like be a scientist because athletes always seem kind of like dumb jocks to me even if they did graduated from college.  (Sunday Dec 13 | post #21)

How often do you holler "racism"!

All this is just white people's or even nonblack's attempts to minimize black people's experiences and the effect racism has had on them. Of course the perpetrator will try to minimize it, make it seem like its not so bad and hope they hurry up and get over it. Thats typical. It is a handful of blacks that have used it in vein which has did all black people an injustice because now you have white people assuming all claims of racism is unjusticed. Again typical.  (Sunday Dec 13 | post #12)

7 Things You Should Know about Black Women.

Personally I'm against sisters dating out because despite what you might think, its a lot of good brothers out here. If a sister decides to date a white man, don't let it be because she can't find a good brother because its too many of them around to say that. The slave mentality to me is getting with white men because you feel some how they are better than your own brothers. Gaining pride in ourselves doesn't mean you get so desperate that you now are willing to get with white men. Also, a lot of sisters do have degrees and are very successful but don't be confused, definitly not all. You making it seem like sisters are doing so well while brothers are doing so terribly when another study I saw showed the median income for black men being higher than black women's. All I'm saying is dating out is unneccessarily if your really want a decent black men. Having the so-called open mind that you are referring to does not benefit black people as a whole, maybe that particular lonely sister but really thats it. I say be patient and wait for a decent brother since theres a lot available. Why am I the only one that see them? Sisters saying this remind me of brothers that say hardly any good sisters exist when they are every where.  (Sunday Dec 13 | post #69)
