monongahela chamber

She' is not the President. Tony Bottino is. 'She' is the Executive Director. And 'She' owns a business and still finds time to help this city and many of the Chambers events. You are an ass...  (Dec 26, 2011 | post #21)

Aquatorium

The winning bid was the lowest. It was won by the GENERAL CONTRACTOR. The General Contractor then chose sub-contractors, Flexicor not being one of them.  (Oct 16, 2011 | post #15)

Does Monongahela really need a Thrift welfare store?

I agree that an empty building in town doesn't look good and doesn't help the tax base, but the property and school taxes are paid whether the building is empty or not. The Washington Mission is a non-profit organization, so they are exempt from some taxes. I am concerned about who they intend on employing for the Mon City shop they want to open. Are they going to employ locals, or are they gonna bring the homeless that live in their shelter in Washington. If they bring the homeless, that would concern me, we have enough issues to deal with and don't need to introduce more problems. If they hire locals, the place is clean, the prices are right, then I think it would be a good addition. We already have a few second-hand shops (antique stores, etc.) that bring people into town to spend money. If it looks like the Goodwill Store in Belle Vernon, then I think it would be nice. If it looks like the junk stores in Donora, then I hope it fails and they leave.  (Jun 8, 2011 | post #40)

Gay Marriage - Monongahela, PA

A relationship is between 2 individuals. If these two people want to make it permanent, I beleive they should have the ability, along with all the rights and responsibilities that come with the same. I don't think that union should be called a 'Marriage' as that is already legally defined as between a man and a woman, but I have no problem with 'Civil Union, "Life Partner" or "Mate". I believe in seperation of church and state, therefore, religious (biblical) reasons against permanent unions of gays have no legal basis. If a church disagrees on religious grounds, then they shouldn't be required to perform the ceremony. If a person disagrees on Christian grounds and then proceeds to make negative comments on it, I suggest they reread Matthew 7:1 through 7:6 ...  (Mar 20, 2011 | post #19)

Cole's misstep should be a warning

Sounds like some of the computer businesses in the Valley should sue Cole and the City for not being allowed to bid on these contracts. I think Mon City and Donora have computer businesses that should have had a shot at this...  (Feb 15, 2011 | post #19)

Barbara Mayfield arrested! (FINALLY)

This past weekend, Barb was arrested behind the Medicine Shoppe on Chess Street. She was stopped by Boyer (another ass) for driving with fogged up windows. He gave her a warning and told her to wipe off the windows. She pulled out without cleaning the windows, so he pulled her over again to give her a ticket and she started her usual holier-than-thou screaming. Boyer called another cop after she tried to drive away and she was arrested and held in the Mon City Jail. From there, they took her to the Magistrate (Mark Wilson), who let her out on PR until her court date. Hopefully she gets found guilty and she finally learns to keep her trap shut once and for all!  (Feb 14, 2011 | post #1)

Mon City Cop Positive on UA???

GL is a member of the Monongahela Pool League. I saw him drinking beer at their Playoffs 2 weeks ago at The Eagle Aery. If he is supposed to be in rehab, how come he is drinking?  (Apr 19, 2008 | post #14)

Police probing Monongahela bank robbery

DEE DA DEE, You picked a great a handle (euphamism for retard from comedian Carlos Mencia). I don't know what your problem is with Goody Two Shoes. When I Googled it on the internet, I found out it is a tearoom on Main Street. Never been there, didn't realize what it was 'til now. I just thought it was a house with a cool balcony for parades! As far as your problem with me, I can only assume you don't like the people that you claim I am and therefore this is about mistaken identity. You don't know who I am, what business I own or anything about me other than a few posts. As far as I know, I haven't pissed on anything you have posted until you started on me. My dumping on MON CITY was directed at him/her because of his/her posts directed at me. I don't know why you got involved with my discussions with MON CITY unless you are the same person, you are bored, or you have mistaken me for someone else. I have no quarrel with you, hopefully you understand that I am not who you think I am. I am a Business Owner that is Concerned about the City of Monongahela. My income and well being of my family is based on this city. This is the last functioing town in the Mid Mon Valley that still has that '50's feel to it. I am worried that it could end up like Clairton or Lower Monesson if we don't get involved and hold our leaders (business, educational and most important, political) responsible for what happens and demand of them our requirements to keep what's good about our city and make it better.  (Apr 14, 2008 | post #30)

I agree the site is not the "official " site (there isn't one). The recordings are provided by the City for publication on the website.  (Apr 14, 2008 | post #9)

Police probing Monongahela bank robbery

Dee Da Dee, You have me confused with someone else. I don't serve tea (or coffe, or alcohol). As far as failing, my business has been growing over the years and I am nearing retirement. My problem with MON CITY is his negative attitude and misrepresenting him/herslef by posting under many aliases. As far as GOODY TWO SHOES, I am not nor have ever used that handle. I just started hanging out on TOPIX about 3 months ago...  (Apr 14, 2008 | post #26)

New Monongahela Mayor

moncitymom, In 2003 the city was $200,000 in the red. The public side of this administration is a little more open than the last, they are posting audio recordings of the monthly council meetings on www.cityofmonongah ela.com . I don't know what is going on behind closed doors. We all know that the new mayor was the right hand man and crony of the old mayor until a year ago. They are both cut from the same cloth!  (Apr 14, 2008 | post #6)
