How to treat a woman

Ladies, you are wasting your time responding to the posts on this thread. It is obvious this is a "men's " pity party where they commiserate with each other by dissing the entire female gender because they have been rejected, ridiculed, outsmarted or shown indifference by all the women they have encountered throughout their lives. Yes, Nellie, they are LOOOOOOsers big time,  (Aug 26, 2015 | post #13)

Dear Christians of Ironton....

I haven't been on Topix for a long time but just was perusing today when I came across your posts. You are my kinda guy...a genious amongst the feeble-minded riff-raff of religion. And from Ironton too! Thank you for taking the time to sift through all the garbage to find the perfect passages to support your point.  (Aug 25, 2015 | post #184)

What's mitch McConnell done for coal, when there is no el...

Yeah, how could Mitch have known 30 years ago that the 21st century would bring so much change to the world and a black guy would be President. Just goes to show, Mitch lacks foresight. Did he really think his little dominion would go on forever? Did he really think no one would finally notice he does not work for his constituents but for corporate cronies who have ulterior motives for redesigning our country? Mitch has become an obstructionist and refuses to allow cooperation in Congress. The jobs bills Republicans have sent to the Senate only provide for cutting taxes for corporations, especially the oil conglomorates under the guise that will create jobs. No real substantial means of job creation on their part. Harry Reid is only asking for a bill that will actually provide for real job creation. The stock market does not indicate the health of the economy overall, just that Mitch's wealthy handlers are making beaucoups of money. HaHaHaHa! What a fool you are!  (Jul 26, 2014 | post #99)

Are you agreeing or disagreeing with Obama? I agree with his statements. If you listen to his statements you will learn that he never said he would bankrupt the coal industry but that if they could not comply with clean air standards they would indeed go bankrupt through their own efforts of noncompliance. Coal is the dirtiest of all energy sources and if the carbon pollution of life's necessities, air and water, cannot be eliminated by the industry, coal becomes a nonviable source when many other clean sources are available.  (Jul 26, 2014 | post #98)

World War 3

The Jews appointed themselves "God's chosen people" when the powerful amongst them invented their god and wrote the Old Testament to instruct Jews how to live through the use of fantastic tales and adventures. Their "god" smote down those who did not comply with the laws of the priests thereby keeping the common folk in line through fear. Those good compliant Jews were "chosen" by their own man-made god to be his people so they would feel compelled to serve "his" wishes, to fight "his" wars with those of others gods, and to overlook the inconsistencies in his religion. Some really good stories in that OT.  (Jul 26, 2014 | post #28)

World War 3

Do you realize what you are saying? You acknowlege that Historian is educated and thinks the Bible is hogwash but that you are ignorant and prefer to remain that way because a book written 1900 years ago by unknown authors has all the information you need to know in life. You do not care to look behind the curtain to see what is really there; proving the old adage that "ignorance is bliss". Historian has the guts to look at reality and his ignorance of spiritualty as you called it could be not based on ignorance but a philosphy he has discarded after taking a look at it and finding it lacking in substance.  (Jul 26, 2014 | post #24)

Columbus mayor to DNC: Pick us or lose Ohio

A few weeks ago I received a survey from the DNC asking me to vote for a city from a list of 8 or 10 in which to hold the 2016 convention. I immediately chose Columbus. A fews years back when I lived in Ohio (when it was a top rated state, not like now when it has fallen to 3rd world status) Columbus was considered to be a perfect testing ground for determining the habits and likes of the average American. New products, restaurant chains and technologies were introduced to Columbus first to see how it took to these items before distributing them nationwide. If it did not succeed in Columbus, it was a no go. I still think the city retains those true American ideals (this website is an aberration and not representative of the city and Ohio as a whole) and is the perfect site for the convention. I do not know how holding two political conventions in one state will work out but the Republicans made a poor choice in Cleveland and think (and hope) they will regret it.  (Jul 25, 2014 | post #8)

Women should not have equal rights.

Berrygirl, you either misread or misunderstood my comments. I said that "All human beings are born equal" and since women fall into that human category, your addition of "regardless of gender" is redundant. Thomas Jefferson used the phrase "pursuit of happiness" as a substitute for philosopher John Locke's use of the word "property " when listing unalienable rights because he was unsure if property was truly a human right. I think the word I used "liberty " is sufficient to convey the freedom to pursue one's own life course which encompasses "happiness ". In what way am I biased? You do not think women are equal? You seem to be qualifying equality by using those same physical or personality traits I mentioned above as irrelevant to equality..... being human is the only qualifier. I stated that I expected many who posted on this topic to respond to my post that "woman is secondary to man" because the Bible says so over and over again as if that is some sort of justification. Of course, that is nonsense. But those who believe nonsense have carried those untenable reasons throughout the ages into our own discriminatory laws. My final statements were directed at those guys who posted their disdain for women overall, as if women whined and cajoled to get their way. Sometimes those have been the only means women could use to obtain any justice or standing in our society. It is a shame; if they were truly equal in our society, they could be straightforward in their actions and not have to resort to manipulative behavior.  (Jul 23, 2014 | post #19)

To be fair, there is no one in any party that can do anything for the coal business. Coal is no longer a viable commodity in the modern world...it is dead. Sorry, you are just going to have to face it and turn your energies into finding productive alternatives to creating jobs and lifestyle in your area. A first step in that pursuit would be to rid yourself of Mitch. He is an obstructionist and would be of no benefit should you develop a new working plan for creating jobs and bringing industries to KY. He would certainly do anything in his power to prevent any forward progress in the economy overall only for that reason that has been his mantra these past six years.....thwart the efforts of Obama. Surely, you want to get rid of the do nothings but take the pay members of Congress and elect those who want to work to get our country back on track after six years of neglect and obstinance......which has been a detriment to America on so many levels. Probably Grimes is your best bet.  (Jul 21, 2014 | post #35)

Women should not have equal rights.

All human beings are born equal, regardless of gender, race, stature, mental capability, muscle strength, or any other irrelevant traits you try to use as reasons to deny equality. And therein lies inequality. Every human being has the right to life (real persons, that is) and the liberty to pursue his/her own way in the world. Yet, everywhere abounds beings who have taken it upon themselves to deny those unalienable rights to their fellow human beings, using those above mentioned arbitrary means. I await the response that inequality was decided by god because the Bible says so, never grasping the idea that "God" was a creation of those who wanted power over others and devised a supernatural being who gave them that authority. Duh! Now go on, tell me how "God" created woman as secondary to man, her only role in life to bare and raise his children. Then tell me how that restriction on women has not passed through the ages even into our own laws in this country, the land of the free. All women are denied their basic human rights in every land on earth, even this one. Then whine about how she is given custody of her own children (only if she gets a good lawyer) after a divorce........aft er all, it is her relegated life's work, is it not?  (Jul 21, 2014 | post #16)

Remember When TLH ___________

But you do care. If you and the other imbeciles (a step lower than cretins) who post one-line schoolyard taunts in response to every word posted by Legend, or TLH. or Pat Riot or whatever his screen name is now, did not have this stimuli in your lives you would be in worse psychological shape than you are now. You accuse him of being in a psychological shambles, yet it is you, as you view his posts through your own neuroses or psychoses. All things in life do not involve homo erotic fantasies which seem to be the primary focus of the lives of you and your fellow posters. Just an inquiry into the whereabouts of Legend brought everyone jumping into the commentary about one with whom they are obesessed. It is obvious that Legend is relevant and all of you do care and are looking forward to more interaction with him. I just hope you keep it on a more adult level...it has to be boring and frustrating for Legend to have his posts answered with the prepubescent responses he gets. Do any of you have jobs? Must not because all of you spend a lot of time on here with not much to say of any relevance. Yet, you criticize Legend for being a diletante. Improve your minds and actually engage a debate about isssues and ideas; not resort to trash talk whenever you feel overwhelmed by an idea.  (May 26, 2014 | post #114)

McConnell or Bevins for Senator ??

Mary-el, I think Fed-up is referring to a NRA propaganda piece that holds Illinois and particularly Chicago up as having the toughest gun laws in the country, yet the highest incidents of gun crime as well. This supposedly means that gun restrictions do not deter crime and goes to the old adage that criminals do not obey laws and will always be able to get guns regardless of the laws. This is meant to instill fear, a typical NRA ploy, in those who believe that hordes of murderers, rapists (sorry, I forgot there is no such thing), and thieves roam about seeking to visit your house. I thought those people only hung out on Wall St., coroporate boardrooms or Congress.  (May 5, 2014 | post #18)

We can only hope that is the case. Reality vs. Fantasy! I want my representatives to be rooted in the real, present day world, not in a man-made fantasy world prevalent in the dark ages.  (May 5, 2014 | post #17)
