Shooting in Conneticut!

Sorry if that sounds harsh but there're too many snipers on these forums who take every opportunity to create havoc for no reason other than personal gratification. You sound like one of these.  (Dec 16, 2012 | post #39)

I'm not getting into a semantic argument with you. If you don't already know the answer to this question you're unprepared to discuss it. Do some research please.  (Dec 16, 2012 | post #37)

Nope, like this young man I am a former victim and learned at a very early age weakness invites abuse. Unlike this young man I've taken a constructive path rather than destructive.  (Dec 16, 2012 | post #35)

Marijuana - Somerset, KY

It also once required MUCH more marijuana to get the same buzz, it's been genetically altered to be more effective. That being said I'm still not sure how that negates the comparison for the purposes of this discussionCoca, in it's non processed form, is actually a good thing, the original users of this plant would use it like dip to reduce hunger and create energy when extreme effort was required. Marijuana, in it's original form, was also useful, the government actually encouraged farmers to raise it. Hopefully those days will soon returnWow, I believe this is the first time I’ve seen someone use God to justify smoking pot, and to describe it as a crime against nature is a serious reach. Since I choose to be a believer I too agree that EVERYTHING on this planet was put here for our use. Unfortunately our species is almost completely lacking in self discipline and unable to not abuse everything we come in contact with. In the interest of an advancing society instead of the one that is currently eviscerating itself it’d be best if it all went extinct. However, since that’s probably not going to happen we should allow it for those that need it for medical reasons and none other.  (Dec 13, 2012 | post #248)

Will Somerset, Kentucky Support Fine Dining?

Will Somerset, Kentucky Support Fine Dining? No. Generally speaking we are poor folk and can't afford ritzy restaurants. I make way more than average for this area yet am unable to justify eating even at Golden Corral.  (Dec 13, 2012 | post #18)

There are many reasons why it should be legal, there are many why it should not. I'll play the devils advocate. Let's pretend you're an exceptional and it doesn't affect your drive, willingness to work or prevent you from looking ahead to anything other than your next hit. You still have to admit your friends who also smoke have not that will power. It's best effect is it erases stress, it makes everything seem ok when it's really not. Without that stress we don't feel the need to do anything. As a result it's almost always a negative influence on the lives it touches.  (Dec 13, 2012 | post #243)

heating assistance

I feel for ya, just can't reach you. I got the job I currently hold 18 years ago, had a wife and child to support and made around $9 an hour. My wife and I decided we didn't want a stranger to raise our child so she quit work to be a housewife. We then went on a hyper tight budget and 9 years later paid off our home and owed nobody anything. The only way to do that is drive a junk vehicle, but walk whenever possible, get rid of cable, telephones etc, wear warm clothes instead of heating the house in the winter, buy those metal cage fans for the summer and pinch every penny. I took baked potatoes to work for lunch, on a good day I bought .99 cent whoppers till I had so many the last one made me physically ill. To this day I can't stand even the smell of a whopper. Point is it can be done, you just have to want it really, really bad. Pinto beans, rice, fried taters and water get old, but they're healthy and cheap.  (Dec 13, 2012 | post #22)

Raise property tax on the rich

This is unsurprisingly typical, no matter what we give them it's never enough. We're fighting a lost cause my friends. The takers have now exceeded the givers, reference Obama's reelection, and it's now too late to fix the problem.  (Dec 13, 2012 | post #11)

Republicans refuse to ask millionaires and billionaires t...

I'm a republican but not rich by a far, nor is any republican I know personally. We work for a living so can barely feed, house and cloth our families, partly because a minimum of 30% to 40% of our income is taken from us via taxes. There's a bigger picture here. Sure, as a 'poor' republican I see the waste the 'rich' are famous for, I yearn for the opportunity to show how that wealth should be used, but I would NEVER think about simply taking what they have. I'm able to look past my needs to see penalizing someone who is productive by taking from them to give to those who are not is exactly the opposite pressure we need to apply. The real problem is democrats refuse to face the reality that our government is spending far more than it's earning, and increasing at a dramatically accelerating rate, and there's no way tax increases can ever make enough difference. We're going almost 2 trillion further in debt in 2013 and our two parties are arguing over making/saving a trillion or so over the next 10 years. Way too little, way too late. Research what countries have done in the past when their debt reached this level and you'll find they simply pumped out more money till it had no further value then switched to another form of currency. When that happens you'll be paid pennies for the value of what few dollars you've managed to hang on to during the devaluation process. That's exactly what's happening right now.  (Dec 13, 2012 | post #14)

Why is Obama hell bent on raising taxes

We’re talking about CHANGING THE TAX CODE! Why would we exclude thisAgain, why would we exclude this? If it can be sold it can also be taxed regardless of the number of sales. There would of course be an adjustment, but adaptation would happenOf course, why would we exclude this either? They ARE taxing our imports, and taxing American citizens is what this aboutI did, you just chose not to read itIf one is mandatory and the other choice then they’re NOT the sameThat’s the case now, so why so upset about a change to a sales tax ? I’m pretty sure I said it would be more fair, not perfect.  (Dec 4, 2012 | post #37)
