Town Manager letter

There's no debating that the River Walk looks great and the painted trash cans are a big improvement. Now, here's how to REALLY make a difference. Instead of another project, get those 125 volunteers to come to the next town council meeting, walk up to the microphone together, and demand a new town manager and an end to the retaliation against citizens.  (Sep 16, 2013 | post #33)

Colonial Beach lawsuit alleges false arrest A lawsuit is ...

Thank you Free Lance-Star for finally reporting this story.  (Sep 7, 2013 | post #1)

Blevins. CBPD, Town, Law Suit

I'm still puzzled by your obsession with this. Criminal court is limited to criminal cases brought by the government. You use the remedies available to you. If the civil trial presents compelling enough evidence of criminal misconduct by the defendants in this case, then perhaps at that time the government file criminal charges. Until then, Peter Willis' only remedy is the one he is pursuing. That's how our system works. Please move on.  (Aug 20, 2013 | post #72)

Skippy occasionally if it's on sale, but Jif has more creamy peanuty flavor. Read the message again. I never said they should lose their jobs. I said that they are still in powerful positions of authority, which is a fact. With those positions comes an obligation to exercise that power ethically and responsibly. Where that power is abused, which is what is alleged in this case, it can be a scary thing for everybody. Anybody could be Peter Willis. Did you read the complaint? The facts provided are quite detailed. The judge looked at them, considered the motions to dismiss, and ordered that both stand trial. Now we will see. Criminal cases are brought by the government against individuals being accused of a crime. Think CBPD, prosecutor's office, Peter Willis, attempted murder. Civil cases are brought by people (individuals, companies, etc.) against other people. Willis is seeking a civil remedy. He could not file this case in criminal court even if he wanted to. I don't understand your obsession about this lawsuit only being legitimate if it's a criminal case.  (Aug 19, 2013 | post #67)

Blevins. CBPD, Town, Law Suit

Since the first thread was removed, here's a recap of what this about. Peter Willis, an innocent man, spent a year in jail on a charge of attempted first degree murder. He's now suing Blevins Jr., the arresting officer, and O'Shea, the local prosecutor. He's alleging that they both knew he was innocent, and that they conspired to falsify evidence to keep him in jail and convict him for a crime he didn't commit. Both are still in their powerful positions of authority. Scary. Think about that next time you're minding your own business in Colonial Beach.  (Aug 19, 2013 | post #63)

Please identify the moderator of CB Topix

Can someone please identify who the moderator of Colonial Beach Topix is? Clearly some of you know. Thanks.  (Aug 1, 2013 | post #1)

Chief of PD search

The "moderator " has been at it again. There was a post on this thread that was critical of Lt. Blevins Jr. and related to the Willis lawsuit against the town. That post has been removed. I believe the author was Bill P. If you're out there Bill P, please post your comment again. This censorship is unacceptable.  (Aug 1, 2013 | post #39)

Major lawsuit against Blevins Jr., Blevins Sr., Town of C...

Just read all 44 pages. Unbelievable that that this can actually happen. This document should be required reading for anyone living in CB and Wmd County. Link was in the second post. Reaction is as follows: Blevins Jr.: Should be fired and then investigated if facts alleged are accurate. Then should be prosecuted. Didn't even investigate before arresting without probable cause. Fabricated evidence after the fact to cover his ass, knowing that the guy was innocent. Blevins Sr.: Was fired in January. Public never given a reason why. Was the favoritism towards his son the reason? Was it because of this? A defendant because as chief he didn't properly train and manage his employee (Jr.). Town of Colonial Beach: See Jr. And Sr. I hope they lose this case. Town needs to finally learn an expensive lesson on responsibility to its citizens. Note also that police chief and department reported directly to Val Foulds at the time. Journal and Westmoreland News: No journalistic integrity. Were scooped on this story by a poster on Topix. Knew all about it but chose not to tell us. Free Lance Star used to report stories like this, but abandoned Colonial Beach after Frank Delano left. Prosecutor Ed O'Shea: If facts are accurate, violated his ethical duty to drop charges when became aware there was no probable cause to charge. Should be investigated. Scary to think this guy has the power he does in this county. Town council: Val Foulds still there. Blevins Jr. still there. Never told us why Blevins Sr. fired. Tried to keep this story from us. We need to step up. Otherwise nothing will ever change. Good luck to Peter Willis. Hope you win big. This never should have happened to you.  (Jul 31, 2013 | post #14)

Town Salaries

Here's the difference, Mike. These people are public employees. You and I as taxpayers pay their salaries. We should be asking where our money is going. I applaud the person who posted that information.  (Jul 9, 2013 | post #22)

Start $hit? What do you mean by that? It's a valid concern. Even the perception of conflict of interest should have caused him to abstain from voting.  (Jun 28, 2013 | post #3)

Consultant Results

The consultants stated that only six of the seven Council members bothered to complete the survey. This was a taxpayer funded initiative put forth by Council to be used by Council. I find it shocking that one of you didn't even participate. Who was it? Tim or Wanda, can you please answer that question for us? Thanks.  (May 20, 2013 | post #13)

Dress Code????

I do have a good life. Thanks for inquiring. Our public officials will either live up or down to our expectations. I expect more than what we have been getting. If that's a complaint, then guilty as charged.  (Apr 16, 2013 | post #10)

Dress Code????

Memo to Ham and Edwards. Put on a pair of khakis, some loafers, and a golf shirt at least. Is that so damn hard? You're running a business with 3000 clients. They elected you because they expect you to do the job well and protect their investment. Dress the part. Your audience is not the 20 people in attendance, it's every single one of the people you represent. Be respectful of them. What is this "New York City" nonsense that others are spouting? If that's supposed to be the opposite of backwards ass, corrupt, ridiculous, wasteful, unsophisticated, good ol' boy, lawless Colonial Beach, then you need a good strong shot of New York City. You are what you appear to be. If you're the mayor of the town and you lead the meeting in shorts and a straw hat, then that is who you are and it is what Colonial Beach is.  (Apr 16, 2013 | post #8)

Serious question to Council and Manager

This kind of language is completely uncalled for. Council's job is to represent the best interests of the citizens as a whole. It is not to "do as you say". State your opinion and disagree with her position on things if you want. But do not talk to her like that.  (Mar 11, 2013 | post #19)
