I completely agree with you on that. I feel that San Antonio is a GREAT place to raise a family. (Jul 16, 2009 | post #44)
You are right. 6 months is not that long but how much time is needed? This is not my first time moving. Out of every city I have lived in, I enjoy San Antonio the least and I only lived in the other cities for 2 years at the most. It didn't take me long to determine whether I liked the city or not. I will say, however, that I am starting to enjoy it more as times goes on. There is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from and that always sells me. I really like the area I live in and they have many nice bar/lounges to choose from to just hang out on a random night. (Jul 15, 2009 | post #42)
I'm not quiting my job. I work for a good company. Plus, I can relocate after I have been here for a year. San Antonio is not THAT bad that I can't stand another 6 months here. It is tolerable. And for the record, I actually LIKE snow and cold weather. =) (Jul 15, 2009 | post #39)
I couldn't agree with you more. I LOVE HEB. The new one by me, in Stone Oak, is REALLY nice. Plus, I refuse to by groceries from Walmart. Bad experience in the past. Their food is not fresh(meat, veggies, and fruit). (Jul 13, 2009 | post #32)
I, myself(an african american woman), have not come across any racism since I have been here. It may be because all I do is work so I do not have the time to socialize as much as I could. I have to agree with most of you in this thread though. Whites are the minority here and whites are not the only racists. I have heard people from all walks of life being racist. Cigar Daves makes a good point. It is crontradicting to treat someone the way they have been accused of treating others in the past. I treat everyone as I would like to be treated and it has gotten me far. I do not discriminate. As for the starter of this post, there is a possibility that you are doing something wrong and people are complaining...whic h wouldn't mean that whites are treating you with racism, just that you are wrong. Though I do not go out, I come into contact with mexican and whites here in San Antonio on a normal basis at work and while taking care of business and I have yet to be disrespected as a result of my race. I would actually have to say that moving from the north, I have noticed a great deal of southern hospitality. I have noticed that some people go out of their way to help you and do it with a smile on their face. People converse with me randomly while in line, at a restaurant, at a bar, etc. I like it and I have no complaints about my fellow San Antonians. (Jul 7, 2009 | post #8)
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE LEGAL SYSTEM HERE?
were* my initial intentions. (Jul 7, 2009 | post #8)
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE LEGAL SYSTEM HERE?
Black panther, those where my initial intentions but because of the cops mistake, it was somewhat difficult to follow that line. I did the crime, attempted to pay the fine(which was the initial solution), and almost had to do time(which was necessary for a speeding ticket). I whined, and everything worked out fine. =) It was just very disturbing being handcuffed for the first time and almost having a misdemeanor on my record for NOT doing something that I intended on doing. I COMPLETELY agree with you! That's why I am only staying for the amount of time that my job makes me stay. (Jul 6, 2009 | post #18)
Lol. This is pretty accurate. You hit the nail right on the head when you mentioned the construction. One thing that really bothers me is what they did with 281. A 3 lane highway turning into a 2 lane road. WHY??? There is always so much traffic! I hope they plan on fixing that. I understand that they may not have planned for the area to be so residential, but now that it is, do something about the roads. I just moved here in January for my job. I will probably be moving next year around January to another city. I don't really like it here. (Jul 1, 2009 | post #6)
Thanks MJ Fan. I've been to Antro...it was ok. The crowd was pretty young. Any other suggestions? Any lounges? Grown and sexy spots? (Jul 1, 2009 | post #7)
can you be PRO-BLACK and PRO-ABORTION????
I feel that the man should have say so in it too. If I wanted an abortion and the father of my child did not want me to get one, I would not get it. I feel that it should be a mutual. For the low-lifes that run out on their children, their opinion is not needed. I will again add that I would not get an abortion. (Jun 30, 2009 | post #310)
I dislike BET. It sucks... alot. I agree with what someone said about them trying to be like MTV. Yes, they are...and it is a big ol FAIL! They tried a sofistocated show similar to MTV's "The Hills" called "Harlem Heights". It didn't even last a complete season. I am sure it was because the ratings SUCKED! The show was so boring. SMH.
