Kissimmee Utility Authority makes space for Embarq staff

Be careful with Vonage. They claim they are not a landline for you. Therefore you will not be able to dial 911. I learned this by accident. I have a relative who would call me who has vonage but the number on my ID was never hers. I called my carrier and learned that they are not a landline, you cannot dial 911 as it will not show where you are calling from etc. I called vonage to confirm this and was shocked to hear that it was all true. Sometimes going cheap will cost you. It should not cost you your life though! By the way, they only tell you this if YOU ASK she told me.  (Jan 26, 2008 | post #3)

Man critically wounded after stabbing in convenience store

That store seems to have lots of bad things happening there. I recall reading other related things about it.  (Jan 26, 2008 | post #2)

Poinciana Hospital Stymied Twice

well Myraim, maybe your congressman would like to drive you to your appointments, because it looks like we are not getting one which is a shame, who ever is in charge of this St. Clouds Medical Center, Health Management Assoc., and Heart of Florida, should have relatives that live out here and need care at any given moment, wonder what tune they would sing then.  (Jan 21, 2008 | post #5)

5-car crash on I-4, other accidents slow commute

Gary, you certainly would have many votes, and you have compassion and drive to get the job done! Give it serious thought.  (Jan 20, 2008 | post #16)

Cops: Teen raped, killed 99-year-old neighbor

Just saw this article and although it happened months ago, I just felt the need to comment. first I have over 28 years in the social service system and juvi. system as a worker. I have also worked as a parent educator for my county in NY. What you are overlooking is the fact that there are clues here that this child was in crisis long long before this happened. For whatever reasons, his issues were not treated. Just reading the fact that he was caught once breaking into a home and trashed the Christmas ornaments tells me of a very angry young man, who suffered from many problems. We do not know what his home life was, or parents mental health state, could be underlying genetic disorders, or why he truly acted out on this helpless elderly woman, except for the fact that he had a violent hidden issue, which something set him off. He is mentally ill. I can guarantee that if his parents were honest enough to divulge thngs their son has done since around age 2, but more so between the ages of 10-15 you will have your answers. Should he be convicted? Yes, without a doubt. Will he get the help he needs and medication? If the system here is anything like NY, he will rot and deteriorate. Race and religion have nothing to do with mental illness, it does not descriminate. It is easy for people to point fingers, but truly you are missing what happened to someone who has lived a life up to 99 years old, to die so horrific is unthinkable. My sympathy to the family and may this woman rest in peace.  (Jan 20, 2008 | post #256)

Poinciana Hospital Stymied Twice

what about oaths to serve and heal, it is all about money making as said by another poster. So, 70,000 people should go without and drop dead because the roads are over crowded, ambulences can't get to you in time, this is just plain nonsense. There should be no more building permits allowed in Poinciana other than those already issued. To build all these homes without a prior plan for a hospital already with ground broken...(I say that because you can't believe what developers say) we have all been put at risk. Talk about medical neglect for an area growing like we are, it just amazes me, 2008 and we are going backwards rather than forward.  (Jan 19, 2008 | post #3)

Subprime Fallout: Home Tagged Gold

I was glad to see this generated some attention. Neighbors have to be vigilent like this person and not have blind eyes and deaf ears. It can't be tolerated.  (Jan 14, 2008 | post #3)

Water-use rules in Orange, Osceola areas to rely on honor...

You know what... yes you are right 110%, and I wish you lived on my block. We have a neighbor who will talk on the phone and chain smoke while watering the lawn. No joke... We cooked dinner, ate, did dishes, wiped up and put on coffee to have with cake, sat down had that and I swear she was still in the front lawn gabbing away with one cig. after another dangling from her mouth. The next day another neighbor at the mail box told me (since I am new...get used to it, it is nothing new). People do not realize what their actions do, but they would be the first ones to complain if they had no water at all. Keep up your good efforts.. my motto like that guy on TV.. an educated consumer is our best customer...well that certainly applies in everyday life as well!  (Jan 14, 2008 | post #10)

Number One Forecloser Bought

Country Wide never informed its customers, and sent out statements for taxes recently along with the usual monthly bill. For the first time ever my bill came on the 12th, when of course it was due the 1st. I had mailed in the payment anyway without the bill...but when I called them, they had a recording telling you that they were taken over by Bank of America and that during this transition period there would be no changes made to any existing accounts. After hitting all different numbers, I still could not get to speak with someone.  (Jan 14, 2008 | post #1)

Husband Mistakes Wife For Intruder, Kills Her

Never picked up a rag like that, but these stories usually play out exactly as that man wrote. Hope they are not related to the Mizell's from upstate NY, they have lots of kin down south. If they are I would have bet lots of money on it, it would not be ther first time to be caught up in a story such as this.  (Jan 10, 2008 | post #262)

Crime up 23 percent in Osceola County

Very sad to hear all this. It is such a pretty area and still so much open land, that is what drew me to this area as well as the central location.  (Jan 10, 2008 | post #21)

I can only imagine the line to get in there in the am. They just ought to have a person at the light like in NY for a window wash and paper. It takes me over 1 hr. and 10 minutes to go 18 miles to work. There are days it takes forever just to get out of the development and onto cypress Parkway. Nothing about a Target though? Some kind of Hotel chain is coming we heard and my neighbor a relator insists we are getting a movie complex.  (Jan 10, 2008 | post #160)
